When we were there they had an exhibition about the design prize of Dresden, so we got to see a lot of models of new inventions and probably future developments. I liked the catamaran boat which can be converted into a tent at night. Or the helicopter which is more like a motorbike. There are also antiques from the times of the nobility and finely decorated rooms. The gardens are also splendid. And if you want to the toilet, you need some coins on you, otherwise you are in trouble. There is a little coffee place outside serving simple fare like beer and sausages, but if you are hungry, it will do. It is more like a beer garden really. If you don't drink beer, the coffee was also good.

We went to Pillnitz by paddle-boat on the Elbe from Dresden, a 1-1/2 hour journey, pleasant enough, but the commentary in German & English was difficult to follow. Pillnitz Castle is sadly in need of repair & refurbishment, and the various exhibitions inside are poorly displayed & of little interest. The park is nice, but it suffered badly from flooding this summer and they were still busy repairing the damage, remaking the paths, etc.

We paid a small fee to tour the gardens and found an amazing variety of gardens and landscaping. We visited all of the outdoor areas and really loved the view down by the river. It was a bit of a drive from the city center but worth the trip.

It's well worth visiting this summer palace on a river trip from Dresden or Saxon Switzerland. Lovely 18th Century buildings and superb gardens

We went to the park in August 2013,you now pay a small amount to visit the park but it is really worth it. It is large and well tended and laid out in various styles- for example
there is a Chinese garden, an English garden, plants of the Bible garden, a Dutch garden, a Palm House and Orangery. There is the largest Camellia Tree in Europe and a mobile greenhouse which encloses it during the cold weather.
