“Ibis Budget Dresden a winner for budget travellers”
Reviewed 18 March 2013

This clean, efficiently run and well-located should satisfy many budget travellers with value for money.

Rooms have a clean white, wasabi green and blonde wood colour scheme that's pleasant to be in, even if obviously a budget room.

I've only given it four stars for service and rooms because it is a budget hotel, ie with none of the extra (and expensive) services of top end hotels. Otherwise. it is fine.

What DON'T you get? Room service, breakfast inclusive, carpet on the floor, uphostery on the one chair, a fully separate bathroom, an inner-spring mattress, a room safe, a mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities. Wow! If that sounds too spartan for you, you'll have to pay more for somewhere else!

For me, it was fine. The room was quiet, and felt clean and welcoming.

The floor is covered half in timber-look, half in green material. The mattress is foam, but comfortable. The bed size is a standard (ie not queen or king size) double. It was actually more comfortable for me than the two singles pushed together found in some more expensive places. The toilet is separated off with its own door, but the shower cubicle and the wash basin are visible to the room. This was all perfectly okay to me, but I was a solo traveller.

Some things I'd like to see, even in a budget hotel - a room safe, and a coin laundry in the hotel if one is not close by. Also, foam mattresses can lose their mojo fairly quickly, so a regular replacement program should be in place.

A quick business trip, or for an over nighter and the Ibis Budget chain is perfect. You get everything you need. It is spotlessly clean. The wifi is a cynch to work. The water is steaming hot and the mattresses is uber comfortable..You might get a little stir crazy after 4/5 days...but for short breaks its ideal. Breakfast was simple, fresh and uncomplicated. You might want to try to eat breakfast elsewhere if you are looking for something more leisurely but those of us champing at the bit for coffee and carbs it was perfect

This hotel is really cheap and good for whom does not want to spend money and be right in the city center. There are many restaurants and bars around. The connection to Neustadt (where all the pubs and bars are) is easy and quick. Rooms are ok for one person: pretty small, but on the other hand they are not meant to organize a party!

Decided to try this hotel chain and wasn't disappointed, they are very well designed, efficient and compact rooms. The hotel is very close to all attractions, many restaurants and lots of shopping right there next door. Ample parking under the park plaza, very safe and modern location. This is the place to stay at - not luxurious but very practical. You'll have to get used to having the shower and bathroom sink right there next to your bed, but it really works, they save a lot of space by doing it this way. Breakfast and Wi-Fi go together, if you but breakfast you'll get free Wi-Fi which is good, works ok.

Room Tip: this is a huge hotel, two buildings joined together, all rooms look alike

The price seemed unbelievable -- only €45 per night for a room in the absolute center of Dresden. Then we saw the room and understood. It's very small. Like really, really, small. There was a double bed, with a bunk bed on top. In the corner there was a small shower stall, next to it a stand with a sink and mirror. The toilet was thankfully in a closed off section next to the main door.

I have to say, my first reaction was not good. But it was actually ok. When you are in bed, you don't notice the rest of the room, and it wasn't too difficult to manage the toilet/sink/shower business. It wasn't a great room, but it was good quality for the money.

As average as the room was, the location of the hotel is PERFECT. No need to have breakfast at the hotel, right next to it there are so many cafes and restaurants you can have breakfast there. The Frauenkirche is barely a five minute walk from the hotel.

Oh, and the service! The reception was manned first by a very friendly, helpful and funny lady, and then the following morning by an equally affable gentleman. Very helpful with advice on parking, shopping, sights, etc. Excellent!

I would stay there again.

A minimalist (but not utilitarian), well designed room, a stone's throw from all the Dresden sights at only 45 euro for a couple. We ate breakfast at one of the many cafes in the Altmarkt Galerie next door. Can recommend 'Aha' in Kreuzstrasse for fresh home-made, organic non-Germanic food.

You can't beat the location. The hotel is right in the city center, inside a large shopping mall. All sights are within easy walking distance. The rooms are typical Etap-style. Breakfast is good as well and the service at the reception excellent. Plenty of parking space around. Wifi is free and working well. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main street could hear some noise from the cobblestone read.
