“Modern Luxury in the heart of the city”
Reviewed 11 September 2012

This was an excellent deal for a modern, well-appointed room with a great view in the heart of Dresden. Very helpful and friendly staff despite not speaking German. We only wish we could stay longer! Even the basic room was very nice. A practically new hotel.

Modern -new boutique hotel across from the Green Vault entrance--Staff was very helpful and friendly--great location for touring the historical district---suggest that you join their frequent stay program to get plate of fruit on arrival--newspaper-and room upgrade--saw no large tour groups in hotel---free Wi-fi---Breakfast varied and excellent-room clean and very attractive

Room Tip: Ask for high floor -quiet room facing the palace

Stayed on the 4th floor. Altogether a very nice experience. Hotel has some weaknesses though. Upper floor rooms are like attic rooms, which is romantic, but also somewhat inconvenient: The luggage rack was right underneath a sloping wall and very hard to access for a tall person. There is only a shower in the room, no bathtub, which my wife found inconvenient. Breakfast is 22 Euros per person and of high quality. Capuccinos or Latte macchiatos are included, available on request. Selection of breads is okay, quality could be improved. Same applies to meats and cheeses. There is a parking charge of 20 Euros per day, which is (almost) impossible to find out when booking through the Swiissotel home page.
Staff are very friendly and very helpful.

We loved everything about the Swissotel, starting with the contemporary style, respecting traditions of Dresen/Maissen and the Swissness of the furniture. The lobby is very modern, still warm and inviting atmosphere. All front desk services faultless, staff is young, professional and friendly. The rooms are wonderful, the bedding first class and all the facilities in the room are of a 5 star city Hotel. We loved the amenities, which are offered exclusively in Swissotels. Fantastic treatments at a very reasonable price. The breakfastbuffet is very good, service fast and professional and always with a yes I can do attitude. The location is excellent, everything is at walking distance.

The Swissootel is a oasis of modern design in the old city (Altstadt) of Dresden. When you drive up to the hotel your initial thought is that you're not meant to drive here. Fear not, and drive on. You're then welcomed in a very nice reception area with extremely helpful personnel. There's a valet service for parking the car.

If you're used to staying in standard 'business' hotels, then this is a welcome surprise. The design is nice, and also the layout is very well thought out. Not to forget, Swissotel offeres a 'Pillow-bar' You can request any type of pillow you want.

We took the included breakfast. Standard buffet fare, with standard Germand coffee. I much prefer a good espresso or lungo in the morning :) The breakfast is fine, but had we known that with a 100 meters there are literally dozens of small cafe's that offer a nice breakfast (with a selection of Italian coffee), we might have chosen differently.

Our general impression of the people of the Swissotel Dresdsen is that they'll do anything to make your stay pleasant.

Room Tip: We stayed on the front side. Isolation is VERY good!

The Swissotel is located in the historical center of Dresden. It is a brand new hotel, opened in April 2012. The hotel offers spacious rooms with high ceilings and state-of-the-art design. I had room # 345 with an open room / bathroom design. The bathroom is an integrated part of the room with the sink behind the headboard of the bed. There are 2 frosted glass cubicles, one for the toilet and one the shower. All necessary amenities are available. There is ample storage and hanging space for clothes. Furthermore, there are coffee and tea making machines, including a Nespresso. The hotel has a spacious lobby / lounge in the shape of an atrium; all is extreemly clean. The staff at the reception, but also in the restaurant and the bar is very friendly and helpful. One has the choice of 2 breakfast options, one in the main restaurant with an extensive buffet for € 22 or a breakfast in the bar for € 9. The latter is served at the table and consists of only a few small sandwiches, fillings and coffee. Although right in the center there is no noise during the night, neither from adjacent rooms. Rooms are equipped with non-slam doors.
The restaurant offers a good menu for a dinner with good wines. The menu displays all information about the origin and supplier of food and wines. Below the hotel is a public parking garage, but there are several parking garages in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The price for all parking is € 20 per 24 hours. The hotel offers free WIFI with a very good reception throughout the hotel. All in all a great hotel and a great value!!
