We are still in the hotel as I write!! Came on a trial holiday with Shearings, Stayed at Novotel in Antwerp 1 night fantastic stay will review on their site. Arrived here and too date only had 1 breakfast as run out of bacon and only 1 egg left, blamed on chinese visitors !!! no fruit or bowls for people who wanted fruit, asked 3 times for coffee..
Evening meal consists every night of soup, main dish some sort of meat in breadcrumbs 1 night with tablespoon of frozen veg and either a few potatoes or, as last night 1 bratwurst, spoonfull of mashed potato and a spoonfull of saurkraut. everynight followed by a wine glass of flavoured custard with compote on top, all this and just lukewarm at best. no restaurant close by or we would be there.
Avoid this hotel at all cost. Am asking if there will be food in the morning as we have a long journey.tomorrow.

Room tip: Room we had was over main road and rail line. This did not bother me too much.

We arrived at the hotel by train. There is a train station very close to it and we thought we would use trains to get to the centre of Dresden. We were surprised they only ran once an hour. This was not really a problem as we got to the centre by tram which was much more frequent, just be aware of it.

Check in was quick and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was quiet at night. It had a fridge and tea/ coffee making facilities.

We did not eat in the hotel. There is an excellent pizza restaurant nearby, Osteria Il Nonno, in which we had one of the best pizzas we have ever had.

There is a large supermarket round the corner from the hotel.I think it was an Edeka, there was also a Lidl.

The hotel provides free wifi. The hotel is located on the banks of the Elbe River. It is quite pleasant to take a stroll along the river walkway.

The Mercure Dresden Elbpromenade is a typical 3 star hotel for a stopover. Nothing much to expect. Hover the two queen-sized beds come hand if you are traveling with family. Public transportation connection to the centre is sporadic on Sundays

No air con, no fans for guests despite being in the 80's was promised a fan but was told they had run out - I visited this hotel when it 1st opened and have things got better NO No No. Surly reception staff, dining staff who cant cope and expensive drinks. We did mention on leaving that we were both disabled and had requested a room near a lift - not the furthest away which we were given on the 1st floor to be laughed at and told 'Well you did get a nice view!'

Room tip: Find another hotel

Situated on a busy and lively main road and near a train station..., but to the rear of this hotel, almost the total opposite.
This hotel has an attractive restaurant and terrace over looking the nearby river...with fields on the opposite bank.
Much rowing activity on the river in the evenings and very pleasant green spaces to sun-bathe and riverside walks too.

We would recommend rooms to the REAR of this hotel situate to enjoy the views....as did our room which was most attractive and comfortable.

Restaurant food and all staff, excellent.
