“Great value for money!”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

Superb location in the heart of the city, still peaceful with no noise from the streets. Walking distance to everywhere, the main attractions like Frauenkirche almost next door to the hotel. Spacious and comfortable rooms, great even for longer stays. Kitchenette is a big +. Friendly & polite staff. No restaurant, even the breakfast is served in separate restaurant in a walking distance

In the heart of the tourist action, close to the Frauenkirche, and with rooms including many of the things tourists need, but which most providers forget - washing machine (only complaint, which was not understood, was that it would have meant buying a large container of washing powder. Found out on leaving that, if we had asked at reception, powder could have been provided.), racks in shower to hang coat hangers, lovely kitchenette, including dishwasher, to make breakfast or dinner (nice for long-term travellers such as us seeking familiar meals for a change). Path along shopping mall from main station was flat so trundling bags was easy in about 15 minutes. A great and memorable stay. Added plus: the archeological dig taking place outside our window!

The Aparthotel Am Schloss has several studios and one-bedroom apartments, right in the middle of Dresden's old town. My family and I stayed in a one-bedroom apartment on the third floor (no.306) in early August 2013. Although the third floor itself can be reached by elevator, the apartment was located on the eastern side of the building and had to be accessed via the rooftop terrace and a small flight of stairs. Not a problem for us, but something to keep in mind if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues. The views from the terrace were great though, and it's a great place to spend a warm summer evening.

The apartment itself was really comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. The owners must have a great eye for detail: everything was just perfect. We even had our own dishwasher, washing machine, and two flatscreen TVs (one in the living room, one in the bedroom). There's also a kitchen in case you're tired of eating out (but why would you?). Every apartment has free WiFi access, but you'll need to get a password and username from the reception for each mobile device you plan to use.

Staff were very friendly, and even allowed me to charge my camera batteries at the reception desk after check-out.

There's also a parking garage underneath the hotel (€20 per day), but keep in mind that on busy days you're expected to turn in your parking key at the reception around 1pm on your day of departure. So if you plan to stay in Dresden for a couple more hours, you'll have to go find another parking spot (not a big problem though, as there are plenty of garages. Q-park Altmarkt for instance is nearby and not too expensive; €16 per day).

All in all, it really felt as if we stayed in our home away from home!

The only negative point I can think of has already been mentioned in previous entries: there's excavation work going on right next to the Aparthotel (on the south side), which can wake up light sleepers at 7am. If this bothers you, just pick one of the other Aparthotels in the neighborhood.

You can not ask for a better location. you are steps from the center of Dresden. The Hotel was opened July 2012 so it is brand new. The apartment has a kitchen-dining-living room with a great bedroom and bath. The ceilings are 12 feet so it really opens up the place. just across the main street is a great shopping mall with great bakeries and fruit stalls.

Room Tip: we were in a 3 person room 202 great view

Nice rooms all with kitchen. New and furnished bathrooms. My apartment even had a washing machine!! Good cleaning. There is everything you need.
Internet if free and pretty good. Everybody really kind.
A perfect place to stay at a reasonable price!

Room Tip: They have two 1bedroom apartments with a sofa bed. They are perfect for longer stays. But need to be...

We were very impressed with every aspect of these new (12 months old) apartments. We had a spacious, well-equipped studio (perhaps because it was - unrequested - the 'accessible' variant), with a view, for now, over an archaeological dig site - just gentle scraping noises for a few more weeks, but when the construction starts in earnest it could be more of a problem. All the main sites are within a couple of minutes walk; indeed, it's so central, access by car to the underground parking means driving through a pedestrian street packed with tourists. Wide range of restaurants and bars barely minutes away. Good free wifi; and oh, and there's a lovely, peaceful roof terrace as well.

This was a wonderful location and the room (we had 205) was excellent. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The hotel is right in the center of everything and we could walk to all the major attractions in a matter of minutes. The parking provided was a reserved spot with unlimited in and out privileges and direct access to the hotel. (We would recommend asking for spot VI, VII, or VIII if you have a larger vehicle.)

The internet connection was speedy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is actually served a short walk away at the Gasthaus am Neumarkt (reviewed separately) and was certainly sufficient as an included hotel breakfast. We'd absolutely recommend this hotel to someone visiting Dresden.
