I stayed here for 4 days during a global conference and I was extremely impressed with the hotel. This was my first time using the Maritim chain and I would use them again.

Location of the hotel is within short walking distance of the Old Town section of the city. Close to the old steamer's in which to cruise the Elbe and about 6k from the blue bridge and beer gardens.

The hotel was very clean, rooms very large and maid service first class. I couldn't agree more about the morning breakfast buffet (at least for me included within the price of the room) was way more than a person could really eat. The fitness center and pool was clean
and well organized.

For a business traveler or family, you can't go wrong with this hotel.

I just returned from a 1 night stay in this hotel. Overall: great. The location is just great direct by the river and close to all major attracktions. Large underground garage. Stayed in room 317 which was very large for city hotels and with view over the river as well. Breakfast was great, also dinner in the evening was good value for money. Be aware, that the hotel just opened a couple of month before so everything is in good condition. Staff was (at least all I met) friendly and helpful.

Yes, the business about the elevator cards is true. Yes, it's also true that the rooms not facing the river go to a noisy street and an empty lot. However, the rooms are among the biggest I have ever seen, you could almost have a little ball in them. I found the staff very helpful and friendly (including porters), the location excellent (five minutes walk to the main attractions) and the breakfast buffet alone is enough to justify the price, I think. It is unbelievable; the only problem being that after this breakfast buffet, nothing less will ever feel good enough again! Only serious downside: smoking is permitted in the lobby and at least in part of the breakfast area and I AM JUST NOT READY TO ACCEPT THAT ANY LONGER.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2006

We disagree with the earlier review. My girl-friend and I stayed at the new Maritim Dresden for a weekend in late october. It's true, they have a great breakfast in a room with a wonderful view to the Elbe river (it's only 50 meters to reach the river). But the problems start when you try to get some information at the reception desk - staff there was completely overstrained. There are porters (well, they wear that special uniform) but you apparently cannot expect them to ask you if you need help with your luggage or with your car. What's most annoying is that it's actually quite difficult to reach the upper floors: they try to make sure that no non-paying tourists get there (well, quite a strange concern given the hotel's location outside the main tourist routes), so you (i) cannot use the stairways to reach other floors than the first one (I wonder how that works out in case of a real emergency) and (ii) you can only use the elvators with the electronic guest card. If you leave the hotel with only one card and happen to hand it over to your wife who wants to return earlier, you're lost. What's even more irritating is the fact that elevators seemed to have some electronic coordination problems. Guest rooms are spacious, restrooms clean, but make sure that you get a river view, otherwise you look at ugly empty spaces and road works. There is a small pool and a tiny sauna in the basement with some 10-15 canvas chairs, so you need to be lucky to get one. Well, given the high prices, we cannot recommend this hotel, at least not for the moment.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2006

This Hotel is a perfect place to stay. Stuff is very friendly, rooms are clean and large.

You only need a 5 minutes walk on the riverside to the historical city (Semper Opera House, Zwinger, …).

Extra costs:
Parking 24h – 12 Euro
Breakfast – 16 Euro (large fresh and good buffet)
