In three weeks of travel in Europe, Kangaroo Stop has easily provided the best service of any hostel we have stayed in - friendly, and with genuine concern for the needs of young travelers.

The hostel itself - spacious, clean, comfortable, excellent location not far from both old and new town. Hostel is set on a big block with a garden surrounding it which is nice. For the price, it can't be beaten.

Bottom line, would definitely stay again when in Dresden.

After a 5 day party stint in Berlin, the Kangaroo stop was just what the doctor ordered. This cozy, friendly, and relaxing hostel provides a feeling of being at home, while still giving you the backpacking atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and seemed generally excited about welcoming people into their location. The rooms were comfortable, and had big lockers for your stuff. The lounge area here really stood out for me due to the abundance of couches and two indoor hammocks. Its a great place to ease your mind, while meeting plenty of other travelers. I found Dresden itself to be a destination well worth my time, and the party scene is certainly abundant if you head to the newer area of town just a couple blocks away

A central hostel, nice personnel and area for to be social. It was easy to book and pay, also easy to find walking shortly from tram. Showers and toilets were average (=ok) and the kitchen was big and great. The best was possibility to leave food for other guest. If you are lucky you don't need to buy food that much. The beds were not good, very soft and noisy. Almost no hooks on the wall. But very easy to get home late with own key to back door. Possibility to buy wine in the reception gave added value (even if I didn't buy any). AND some board games in the communal area (y)

It's just one of the best hostels I've ever been! Everyone is more calm in here because of the peaceful air, I mean there's no sound of anything besides the nature! The people from the hostel are extremely helpful and happy. It's near from the tram, bus and train! If you are looking for a place to stay, this is the right place in Dresden!

I spent a weekend at the Kangaroo Stop, and was very satisfied. The beds are comfortable, with good quality pillows (something of a rare treat in hostels). Bear in mind that there is a small and compulsory extra charge of 2€ (accurate May 2014) for bedding if you stay less than 3 nights. The hostel seemed reasonably empty, which meant there were no problems with noise at night. There were unisex toilets on each floor, and separate male and female showers, all of which were very clean and again high quality. A kitchen complete with fridge, stoves and utensils is available to use, and there are common rooms in each building. WiFi is available for free, but only for 6 hours per day via an access code. Once activated, the 6 hours cannot be paused, so be careful when you use it. There is also a computer available at reception for guests to use. A breakfast buffet is also available for but I didn't make use of this so can't comment on its quality.

The staff are incredibly friendly, and able to provide sightseeing tips as well as advice/directions for getting around. They were even able to provide us with bolt-cutters when the suitcase-lock my friend had brought with him became jammed shut!

The hostel is located in the Neustadt... Just 5 minutes walk from the Neustadt train station and in addition, many nice bars and clubs are within 10-20 minutes walking distance. The Altstadt can be reached in around 10 minutes via tram.

All in all, if you are looking for somewhere cheap but good quality to stay in Dresden Neustadt, Kangaroo stop is a good bet.
