We enjoyed a wonderful meal at China's Welt. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food arrives quickly. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable and with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is extensive with a range of dishes from different regions in China. We ordered duck with plum sauce, spicy tofu and potato and aubergine. Everything was excellent - freshly prepared with amazing flavor. The portions are big and we struggled to finish! We will definitely be going back. So glad to have such a good restaurant on the East side of the city centre!

I was there 3 times already with friends for dinner. Their food are just simply the best. We always order stir-fried eggplant in chili paste, big fish in chili soup and duck. The rice is also refilled. The service is great. The price is a bit expensive but with this quality, I would go back there any time!

Leipzig's Asian restaurants aren't that great, by and large, since dishes are more often than not adapted to local tastes. At this restaurant however, they really do go the mile: while on the one hand the decor is elegant and suitable for Western diners, the food is really authentic. The shiu mai I had was delectable, where I tasted the pork, and all the different spices; and the ma po to fu arrived in a huge boat, tofu and pork mince floating on a rich bed of chilli oil, topped with scallions -- it is as good as any I have had in the best restaurants worldwide. The rice was plentiful, and the quantities were so huge that I had to have half my meal packed in a doggy bag. The meal was great value, with the main dish and shiu mai coming to no more than 15 E. However the spoiler -- as everywhere else in Leipzig -- is that drinking water doesn't come free, and I paid as much for a bottle of mineral water (5 E or so) as I did for the starter! But this is not unique to this restaurant, it's of course a Leipzig disease...Anyway the restaurant is excellent, especially given its location in a city that doesn't boast many authentic restaurants, and I will be back!

We are gathered together from all parts of the world--United States, Canada, Taiwan, Mainland China and locals. All because we wanted to share a delicious and authentic Chinese dinner. With twelve people we were ushered into a VIP area where we can chat with reasonable privacy.

We were thinking of having chop suey or fast food like fusion meals. It turns out to be a very authentic experience. The two cumin lamb dishes were delicately cooked ( not fatty greasy nor burnt)--consumed quickly as instructed, at the right temperature. The BBQ Duck was juicy tender and tasty, eaten together with the sauce and thin rice wrap. Potato julienne strips were fresh and yummy to taste. We also had a few refreshing tapenade dishes--sea weed, broccoli, pickled vegetables with edamame. There is the comforting home-dish like GrandMa tofu. The highlights of the dinner were first the fried Fish with lotus slices, onion and fried tofu in its own sauce. Then it was the fresh poached trout, cooked to perfection --reminded me of Schubert's "Die Forelle" .

The decor was modern with strong flashes of red, a happy colour in Chinese settings. The servers were busy but very pleasant and helpful in deed. The place was almost full even when we left.

It was altogether a very satisfying and enjoyable meal, over and above our expectations. We definitely will recommend it to anybody trying to try authentic Chinese cuisine here.

was in leipzig for work for a couple of days and was pleasantly surprised to find a fairly authentic chinese restaurant serving hunan dishes. most of the dishes did not disappoint and were not watered down to suit western palettes. would definitely consider coming here again!
