“Good hotel for family or lesure trip, not for business”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

I visited the hotel on a leisure trip to Leipzig for two night with my family, wife and two kids (6 and 8 years).

• No air-conditioning
• No balcony in our room
• Poor Wi-Fi
• Location is great (restaurants, museums, Zoo, shopping all just a few minutes’ walk)
• For a family, room 216 is super. Very big with separate bedroom for the kids and refrigerator and sitting area.
• Room 216 towards the yard so you can open windows without any noise from the street
• Nice breakfast buffet
• Friendly staff

This is not an efficient business hotel so I would never go here to work. You need a bit of patience and for example accept that Wi-Fi most probably only works in the reception etc… As a relaxed tourist with kids it is a very good hotel and I can highly recommend to any family. Very clean and fresh hotel.

Room Tip: For Families room 216 is great!

I stayed in this hotel in June 2013. There were two things that made this hotel unacceptable to me.

1) No air conditioning or any ventilation. This made the room unbearably hot at night and difficult to sleep. I finally opened the windows at 4AM and then is was very noisy because it was right beside a major intersection.
2) Very poor Wifi. For business this is unacceptable. I need to do work and saying you have Wifi when the reception comes and goes all of the time is deceptive.

I will not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone else. Even the lowest budget hotels at least have aircon and reliable Wifi.

Did arrive in the evening, the GPS took my from the airport to the city - and I struggeled finding the hotel entry. It is not located at the address, but around the corner. The parking is open air, next to the building and dark at night. Not THAT inviting for a start. The Lobby is small, check-in went quick, had booked a single standard room. But assume - as the room was quite large - I received an upgrade, reception staff did not mention. Pantry and microwave I did not need, minibar stocked ok. The business traveler will fnd a lot of plugs, just not at the desk. And disappointingly staff did not accept mail and drop it for you, but referred to one of the many mail boxes that are somewhere close to the hotel. Needed some coins, but reception could not change. Staff generally is friendly. Strength of the place is proximity to train station and the shopping area, think value for money is good. But might try out the Marriott or the Seaside Park Hotel next time, as they are next door.

WIFI- rubbish worse than a 56k modem when it worked. Kept dropping signal/unable to find network not suitable for Business travel or anyone who requires access to the internet.
Reported WIFI issue and again not fixed!
Reported broken desk lamp on first day never fixed.
The breakfast room was far too small and unable to cope with the number of guests had to wait for a table and for food and drink to be restocked 10 mins at least.
The room needed air conditioning as very hot but when windows open very noisy.
Lack of hanging wardrobe space more suitable for a single room.
A bottle of free water would have been nice as the air was very dry.
Main entrance & reception too small and is not located on Richard Wagner strasse but Hugo *Stuka* Junkers strasse which is a side street.
Over priced and definitely not a 4 star hotel perhaps 2 would be generous.

I have stayed 13 times in Leipzig and this is by far the worst value for money and least enjoyable.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else even a hostel might be better

I booked myself and my family at this hotel for end of August 2013. I noticed a couple weeks ago 2x $0.01 charges to my credit card which was unauthorised by me. Payment for these rooms is to be made in full at the time of check in, as per the Booking.com website. I contacted both the booking website and also the hotel to ask why my credit card had been charged. Neither got back to me with any explanation within 2 weeks. I had to then lodge a formal complaint with my bank in Australia. Unauthorised charges of any value are illegal. I am disappointed that neither the booking company nor the hotel replied back to me with my query.

WIFI is sporadic......no food service at night/or bar service after 2200
Have been going there for years....and personnel always different...so you never know what you will get for service....
Hotel needs to be upgraded in services, since facilities are lacking to rate the 4 star status
