First arriving the lady at the front desk seemed annoyed by having to serve us. Room was ok but the tiles in the bathroom are old and cracking in the grout lines. The pool/sauna was not open when we arrived. No breakfast or parking or internet included. Nice selection of bars and restaurants in the hotel. Called the front desk and the person did everything to get me off the line as soon as possible. He seemed too busy to help me with a simple question. No iron in the room. Not a 5 star hotel.

Very good Hotel.
Probably a little bit expensive
Very good breakfast
Large and clean rooms
With small details as: more variety in the breakfast, lower drinks price, better SPA conditions could be a perfect hotel

We stayed at this hotel on their "Lubeck in three days" package which we booked directly via the hotel's website. The package included two nights' accommodation including breakfast, three course dinner on one night, welcome cocktail, canal boat trip and museum entry. Given that the standard rate does not include breakfast, I felt that this package was good value.

We arrived at the hotel at 10.00 a.m. following a Ryan air flight from Stansted. The hotel was easy to get to via a number 6 bus from Lubeck airport, which stopped very close to the hotel. I had asked the hotel for an early check-in and our room was available on arrival. Check in was very efficient. The room was a good standard very pleasant hotel room with a seating area, overlooking the river. It included a mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities and a large comfortable bed. The room looked as though it had been very recently re-furbished.

The hotel itself was in a perfect position for visiting the city, just a stroll away across a bridge. It is a modern chain hotel with an attractive receiption and public areas, a cocktail bar, coffee bar and two restaurants. The swimming pool and leisure area were not available during our stay due to refubishment.

We ate at both restaurants and the food was excellent - one of the highlights of our stay. There was no choice for the three-course meal included in our package, but the menu was exactly what I would have chosen! The cocktail bar did not open until 8 p.m., although you could get a drink by ordering through the coffee bar. I would have preferred an earlier opening.

Lubeck itself was an interesting place to visit, as was Travemunde, and we enjoyed our stay.

This hotel has been very recently refurbished and is really very nice. The rooms are modern but comfortable - not so modern that you feel like you are staying in a design project!

The location is excellent, right on the river and no more than a 5 minute walk in to the centre of beautiful Lubeck.

Any hotel breakfast connisseurs will be very happy with the hotel's buffet breakfast. It is extensive!

Our only niggle was a temporary venue erected just to the left hand side of the hotel (as you look out over the river). It is part of the Ice World exhibit (well worth a visit by the way) and is a small collection of marquees and food stalls offering Christmas fayre. All very festive but sadly also very noisy until about 10.30pm each night. Not a major problem if you are not planning to spend any time in the room but certainly a problem if you want an afternoon snooze as even with the TV turned up you can still hear the thumping music!

All that said, the staff are very nice and as long as you are aware of this they'll probably find you a room on the other side of the hotel. It will be gone in mid-January anyway!!

We booked the hotel as a last-minute offer. There was no risk involved as we know the SAS Senator from previous stays.
The hotel is being renovated. We stayed in of the older rooms. The carpet was clean but was in need of renewal. The furniture was in very good condition, the room itself was clean.
The staff was very polite and competent. Before arrival I contacted the hotel twice by e-mail because I had a question about the type of room we could book. I also asked for a twin-bed room and got one (it was not possible to book a twin or double bed room at the time of booking - the travel agency did not offer this choice).
We had dinner twice at the Kogge restaurant which offers excellent value for money and has a very friendly staff. The quality of the food was very, very good and reasonably priced.
Breakfast was o.k.
All in all a hotel that we will definetely book again in the future.
