“Good hotel in best location”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

Best location in town, just behind Krämerbrücke, so the hotel is in walking distance to all major sights of the city. The breakfast is very good with a lot of choices, the rooms are small and the type of open wardrobe is rather typical for budget hotels. They had a fitness room, but due to poor attendance, it is converted into a sauna (not used). Look for special offers, then value for money is good.

Room Tip: Ask explicitly for a non-smoking room, some of the rooms can be stinky.

One couldn't ask for a better location in Erfurt for a hotel. This place is on a side street off the Krämerbrücke bridge, so it's not noisy, but you're within walking distance of the major sights and shopping districts. The room isn't enormous, though the size was sufficient for two people. The windows were large and looked out on the cobblestone street that led to the parking garage below the hotel. It wasn't a spectacular view, but it could've been worse. The bed (European style double) was comfortable, though my husband thought the pillow was a bit too soft. The bathroom was bright and average sized, but the hotel offers no toiletries beyond cotton balls, nail file, and a sewing kit. Be sure you have your own shampoo and lotion. The soap is provided in a squeeze container located on the walls by the sink and in the shower. It had a pleasant scent, but I wouldn't want to use it for my hair.

The breakfast can get crowded, but the selection was good. As expected, there were ample breads, cheeses, meats, and cereals. They also had bacon and eggs. Coffee, tea, and juice are provided, though we could not find any hot chocolate.

It's nice to find a hotel with free wifi in Germany. The signal in our room was strong enough to maintain our connection throughout our stay and even allowed a brief FaceTime chat overseas.

In all, I would recommend the IBB Hotel Erfurt and would definitely stay there again. The hotel's location is ideal, and Erfurt is a good home base for day trips to other places such as Eisenach, Buchenwald, and Weimar. It's not five-star luxury, but it's comfortable, clean, and convenient.

We have just stayed for one night in the IBB Hotel in Erfurt and you certainly can't complain about the location of the hotel. What a great address right next to the Krämerbrücke and we had the unexpected bonus of the medieval market on 30th December close by. That is where the praise has to stop for the hotel as we really did not have a very special experience at the IBB at all. We had paid a supplement for a river view room which we only got after we had to complain at reception after going up to the very average and small 'car park' view room which we were first allocated. The receptionist gave us the new room with a degree of discernible ill will and we went up to our Comfort Room. The room was definitely large but the décor and amenities were very average at best. A broken kettle, a dirty bathroom, a shower mounted so close to the wall that you couldn't get under it, a peculiar wardrobe/shelving unit with curtain, pillows so insubstantial that they may as well not have bothered........ Staff were ok but not outstanding and in the evening (approx. 9pm) it was pure fiasco as the young girl tried to serve both the rather busy bar as well as the reception, leaving all parties let down and frustrated.

The basic problem with the hotel is the price level, the star rating and the expectation that these two things set. The price level was the same as the Pullman Erfurt am Dom but the experience was seriously 3*. This hotel is not of an international standard and would do well to adjust its prices and star rating accordingly. It would be fine for a sensibly priced 3*.

This has to be one of the best places to stay in the city. Terrific location, right next to the Krämerbrücke. We walked from the station in around 15 minutes. All other major sights are within walking distance. Our room was a large one, very clean and fresh smelling and remarkably quiet. The staff were excellent - very friendly and courteous. English was also spoken. Free wifi in the lobby. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice. We stayed for 6 nights so had plenty of time over which to make a judgement. Would certainly stay here again and would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

A typical Ibis. Good location, somewhat pokey room, and OK prices. Had problems getting WiFi on the iPad, but the staff were very helpful, and even let me use their private iPhone! Suggest paying extra to use the hotel car park to avoid parking fines.

We enjoyed staying at the IBB Hotel. The location was excellent - very close to the Merchant's Bridge and all the different sights in town. The hotel was clean, quiet and modern and the staff helpful. The only drawback was some difficulty in getting Internet in our room - the signal was not very strong. Would recommend this hotel as a great place from which to explore Erfurt..

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and found it to be the perfect location for exploring the city. It is just steps away from the river and popular Merchant's Bridge.

We found the staff helpful and responsive to questions and requests. Our room (909) was clean, and modern looking with white walls and a light wood trim. The low profile platform bed is different from what we typically have in the U.S. but after sleeping on it I couldn't believe how comfortable it was. Now I want one for back home!

I would highly recommend staying here when you come for a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Room 909 was quiet and at the end of the hall. We didn't hear anything from neighbors right besi...
