Well worth the diversion off the motorway to explore the coastal area view the flamingos in the salt marshes and enjoy the beaches and views from the winding roads

We hired a car from the airport and drove out to Las Negras which was a beautiful seaside town. We walked to Playa San Pedro (we didn’t realise that we could drive all the way up the hill before hiking down to the beach!) anyway we enjoyed the walk all the way down to the beach. Great spot for swimming however a bit crowded and a lot of weed smoking on the beach which made it slightly unpleasant. There is absolute no shade so if your planning on spending a few hours there you will need an umbrella. Enjoyed our hike and swim.

Cabo de Gata is a Natural Park located in Andalusia, near from Almeria, where you can see a lot of wonderful beaches and fantastic landscapes. Here you can do trekking in some places and enjoy with views. Here we visited the Church of Las Salinas, The lighthouse of Cabo de Gata, Genoveses Beach, Mónsol Beach, la Isleta del Moro or some other very nice places in the zone.Probably the best visit in Almeria region,

Playa San Jose - very touristic nothing special. The best 2 beaches are las Negras and La Isleta. There are also some beautiful and wild coves. Playa de los Muertos is virgen but you can see industrial area from it, which ruins its charm. Everyone used the cave as a toilet, which is pretty disgusting! The snorkeling is great with plenty of fish! All in all, it is a beautiful landscape but it is made out to be much more than it actually is.

What a great place to visit! Beautiful beaches, great for swimming/snorkelling. Stunning landscape with interesting rock formations, nice wildflowers, generally impressive scenery.
