“Walking distance to the center”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2013

Hotel is in good location if you arrive by car like me. I had problems with parking at first (underground garage is quite narrow - so I parked in front of hotel), but finally it was ok. It is within walking distance (and easy to find) to the center, which is very important to me. There are shops nearby, so you can buy meal in supermarket.

You will go to Hotel Mariano only because of the price. It is cheap. My friends and I book it for the Feria de Córdoba as it is 15min walking and all rest of places are expensive or booked normally.

Don't expect anything more than a bed and a shower.

Apartament for 8 people around 120€/night during Feria de Córdoba days.

Paid 40 euros for a double room, free parking and wifi plus location 10 minutes walk from the Mezquita. Easy to find on the main road with garage parking (although down slope and cramped but possible). Pleasant walk along the top of the walkway on the river bank towards the old city. Great views of the Roman bridge, Mezquita etc especially at night. Also several bars/cafes for breakfast etc.

Rooms were basic and acceptable. Common areas of the hotel need attention.

Rating is really for location and ease of access by car (no one-way alleyways).

Room Tip: Ask for a room away rfom the road.

It's a weird place - upon arrival I felt as if I landed 20 years ago in a provincional town in Poland...
Sure, the location is great if you come by car as the hotel has a free garage (that is if you can squeeze your car there - a Honda Civic barely made it inside...) and it's even relatively quiet if not in a room facing the street but--
The hotel itself is rather dark and depressing, the rooms aren't all that bad but crave for renovation just as well as bed covers crave for a proper washing. Bathroom turns out to be the light in the tunnel, luckily.
And forget about amenities like safe, minibar, mineral water, etc.. There's just no such thing so don't bother asking.
All in all a place for 1 night if you're not fussy and a place to forget ASAP

We liked the Mariano for all the wrong reasons. I find rubbish facilities like failing lights and dodgy lefts hilarious. The staff spoke no English, but did their best, and the bar was spartan but cheap.
The place charged 50e which is really cheap, but has free parking. Believe me, a car is a real nuisance in Cordoba, and parking is a nightmare, so the Mariano really scores.
It's a good 15 mins walk from the Mesquita, but that's OK if you like a walk.
Get a room at the back as the Avenida de Cadiz is noisy.

Across the road from the hotel, in Calle Jerez, about 30m on the R, is an excellent cafe which does fine churros (donuts with chocolate dip) or a tostado with ham and tomato. Really good value.

Room Tip: At the back, the traffic is heavy outside.

Attracted to book this hotel due to offer of a room within walking distance of the sights of Cordoba at a cost of about 60 euros for two nights. Location is not at all in the plush or historic part of the city but it is an acceptable 40-minute stroll to the Mezquita, for example. The hotel is very basic and may not be to every travellers' taste - just don't expect a luxury experience, just a value for money spot to stay on a budget.
