“a magic stay.”
Reviewed 30 January 2014

I strongly recomend this hotel.
the place has charme. Our rooms were super, with a view over the old town and Mezquita.
The bathrooms were big and comfortables. The decoration is nice.
The staff was nice and helpful. the groom recomended us a very good restaurant out of the very center of town.
Breaktfast is very good. The breakfastroom is not the nicest place of the hotel, but is ok.
All the patios inside the building are really nice.

We loved the location of this hotel. Our tour bus was unable to drop us off in front of the hotel and we had to our bags from a drop off zone up to the hotel. The hotel appears to be part of a group of courtyard buildings that were put together to create all the rooms. The hotel has a lovely sitting area that truly has that old world feeling. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a person that has trouble with stairs. While the hotel has an elevator, the charm of the hotel is its old world features. There are stairs all over the place. Getting around the hotel is like walking a maze. We didn’t mind it. It was truly old world and with great character. The rooms were large and adequately furnished. I didn’t care for the bathroom or the location of our room. Some of the rooms are exterior facing on the first floor. Our room was on the first floor on the side of the hotel. Adjacent our room is a sidewalk and you could clearly hear people walking along that sidewalk at night. The windows offer no sound buffering. While I don’t mind being on the first floor, you could hear the pedestrian sounds at all hours of the night. The bathroom was nice sized but the toilet room smelled of sewer. We had trouble adjusting the temperature of the shower and we were not the only ones with that problem. As one person from our group said, the temperature was between way too hot and scalding. The bathroom odor wasn’t strong but still unpleasant. Breakfast was nice with all kinds of hams, pastries, and scrambled eggs along with cereals, teas and coffee. The location of the hotel allowed us to walk everywhere. It was a great location. Internet was free but painfully slow and not available in all rooms. The WiFi antenna does not reach all areas of the hotel. We’d suggest you ask for a room on the second floor away from the outdoor patio area.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing the exterior patio restaurant for the hotel. For better wifi coverage, seek o...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at this old but refurbished property with preserved ruins within its walls. Finding our room was like going through a maze but we seemed to find it every time!! The room itself was beautifully furnished although on the small side. The bathroom was a step up so we had to be cautious at night making our way to the facility and back not to trip over the step. The bed was extremely comfortable (hard to wake yourself up in the morning comfortable!). We enjoyed happy hour in the courtyard. As far as the staff at reception, they were cordial, some more friendlier than others. When we were inquiring about the Andalusian Horse Show, they gave us incorrect information causing us to miss the show (shows were only performed on certain nights).

After getting lost in the rain trying to find the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised once we actually arrived. The rooms surround a patio, quite typical of the buildings in Cordoba's old town. Our room was on the top floor overlooking the Mezquita, which was wonderful. But, you need to use stairs to access the top floor, which might be difficult for older guests.

The room itself was spacious and the bathroom had a bath and separate shower, although the latter is quite small. We loved the antique decor and the bed was very comfortable. My only criticism would be that there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room, which you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

We opted not to take the breakfast offered at the hotel, but rather enjoyed the numerous bars and cafés around. Ask the receptionist, she recommended great cafés, tapas bars and restaurants which served good quality food at reasonable prices nearby. Overall, the staff were very helpful and spoke good English.

A lovely stay all around, we can definitely recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask to over look the Mezquita.

After the breathtakingly narrow streets one must negotiate to arrive here, everything is an utter joy!!
It's an extremely old building - in fact, it's many buildings combined behind the fabulous facade!!
The room was a good size, the bathroom was just gorgeous (but bad luck if you drop the soap in the shower )
The Dining Room - on a terrace - was gorgeous and, on clear nights, is open to the stars!! We had a nice dinner at 'pretty reasonable' price. Breakfast is served in a room underground - don't know why they choose to do that when there's SUCH a lovely space at ground level.
The staff in Reception just wanted to help. I was telling my friends I was looking for Methylated Spirits and 'nobody' sells it in Spain. Next minute, one of them looked below the counter, walked out the back, and handed me a virtually full bottle!! They wouldn't accept money - they just want you to have an easy, carefree, comfortable stay and they do all they can to facilitate this. Including parking your car and bringing it back when you need it. A perfect couple of days, right in the middle of town and close by 'everything'. Thank you!!

Great place in the very centre of Cordoba, tha building is ancient but the recent re-furbishing has been done with creat care and is not too intrusive. Rooms are very spacious and perfectly equipped. Service is top class. Extensive offering for breakfast. Pool available in the warm seasons.

This hotel is incredibly well located in the old Jewish Quarter of Cordoba......within an easy walk of the Casa de Sefarad museum, Maimonides statue, Sephardic restaurant, the Mezquita and many shops and restaurants.

The hotel is beautiful with many courtyards and the guest rooms are well appointed. The bathroom was one of the most luxurious we experienced in Europe.

Room Tip: Room selection is most important if climbing stairs to your room is a major consideration. There ar...
