Charming small hotel near the Mezquita. Great unique rooms with several private patios. The roof top terrace has a tremendous view and is a great way to end the day. The staff is charming and very helpful

Ok, the name says about 50% of the story: the location right in the middle of the Old Jew Quarter. Best for this kind of visit. In about the same location there are other hotels, but none with this level of charm or quality (you also pày for it).
The other 50% of the story is what you are told when you arrive: please feel at home. Unexpected, and absolutely true.
There is an excelent and essential valet parking service if you arrive by car. Besides, once arrived, you probably make the rest of the stay on foot.
As a summary, this is a boutique hotel, very romantic and with the best day and night views in town. Very new in a 400 years house, lots of details, and a back entrance that comes in the city guides as a place to take a photo (callejon las flores). What a privilege !!

Balcon de Cordoba was a beautiful small hotel. It was my “splurge” hotel for the trip, and worth it! Decorated in soothing whites & taupe’s with a beautiful courtyard when you enter. Our room is very nice and beautifully decorated with a nice size bathroom and double sinks. The only problem was the only exterior widow is in the bathroom – the others all open into the courtyard below. If staying there again, I would request a room with an exterior window, but I suppose those maybe more expensive.

The rooftop terrace is incredible with amazing view of the Mezquita and the city. They will also serve you drinks and nibbles up there.

Breakfast at the hotel was a nice selection of the usual meat/cheese/pastries/cereals/fruit, but also included made to order eggs, Vienna sausage and bacon. The price of breakfast is included. The young woman helping at breakfast who also ran the front desk during the day was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English.

Excellent location just around the corner from the Mezquita in the Jewish Quarter.

We stayed at this hotel in May 2012 and felt it is"Punching above its weight"

Compared to other Hotels we stayed in we felt this one was over priced and did not offer value for money.

The lay out of the breakfast area is not good.

We felt the breakfast was limited. Difficult to obtain cooked items which had to be requested through the reception staff who also worked in the breakfast area.
Tea and coffee not necessarily served to our requirements and cold by time we drank it.
On one occasion we found out of date yoghurt.

Air conditioning was not available in the hotel during our stay.

We were not offered as choice of pillow as advertised or a welcoming drink as advertised.

Some rooms have just a small window and are consequently quite dark.

It seems that "If you want something" "You will have to ask" Nothing offered.

There is no bar but I assume if you ask you can get a drink.

We felt this Hotel pretends to be something it isn't.

This is one beautiful place -- from the wrought iron gate introducing the lovely courtyard patio, to the ultimate roof deck overlooking the entire Mezquita complex, a stone's throw from the hotel -- we could not have imagined a more perfect site from which to explore Cordoba. (That is, if one can bring oneself down from that elite roof perch to join the hordes who are not so lucky!) Our room was quiet and bright, (despite its small window), tastefully decorated and comfortable. The tiny breakfast room overlooking that patio was quite starkly modern by contrast; the staff was very accommodating, but as they seemed to shift roles daily, some appeared a bit unsure about cooking eggs!. It was all well worth the nightmare of approaching the hotel through the maze of unbelievably narrow streets, where even my husband became lost and I was left on my own, sans Spanish, to search for the hotel while he stayed with the car. The French staff member who answered my panicked bell ringing couldn't have been more soothing; he rescued me, found my husband with the car, and parked it for us -- somewhere! (We learned an important lesson about asking for very specific driving directions from Spanish innkeepers!)

Room Tip: A room on an upper floor affords more privacy. (Cross-ventilation could be tricky to manage at the s...

Conveniently located in the middle of the Juderia, the hotel building, a converted nunnery, is lovely—all stone, light and shadow—and tastefully decorated. Finding the hotel by car is tricky. You have to stop near the Mosque and ask them to come to park the car elsewhere. The room we stayed in was a disappointment, given the beauty of the hallways and stairways. It was small and dark with only a small window in the bathroom and another looking into the courtyard that you have to keep covered for privacy. This is owing to the original construction of the building, with all windows looking into the courtyard. More annoying was the heating. The hotel as a whole can have only either heating or airconditioning. We were there in spring when, for the sake of the lower rooms, heating was the only option. So at night our room was uncomfortably hot and stuffy. Breakfast is a standard selection of eggs and toast. There was a hair in my eggs one morning, but the staff suitably horrified. Overall, this is a new hotel with a lot of potential, but you need to be sure to ask for a room with light and good ventilation.
