“Great location.”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Literally next to the Mesquita in a busy street. We had downloaded a map showing how to get there by car which was just as well, because I don't think we would have found it otherwise!. It is a very characterful hotel with a charming patio. The rooms are on the small side but perfectly adequate. I found the car park a nightmare to maneuver in and out of the garage, but I don't think there was much public parking around. The service was charming and helpful. You need at least two days to see Cordoba, there is much more to it than the famous Mesquita.

this was our first visit to Cordoba and thank goodness we had a Sat Nav!!, however what a great hotel location, could not be better.

Parking was a bit scary, steep inclines and tight corners, please note parking has to be pre-booked.

Hotel rooms good, comfortable beds but would have liked another pillow. Had booked half board package but if we used again would only have bed & breakfast as so many places to eat locally. Food was good nothing to complain about.

Visit to Mezquita was 8 Euros per person but if you go between 08.30 and 09.00 you can get in for free. This is an amazing place and must , must, be seen.

Within walking distance of the Mezquita, this was comfortable, easy to find, centrally located. Air con and lift did have its problems. Checkin was lengthy for other people so that could be improved. Pleasant though.

Room Tip: Mezquita view above 1st floor

Our third stay in this hotel since 2008, Wonderful position is the best attribute though there are other hotels in Cordoba with similar location. We love the dining patio (complete with fountains, turtles and geckoes) and found the food good at breakfast and dinner. Friendly service, comfortable rooms, reasonable price. We would stay here again - why change an excellent experience!?

Room Tip: The extra few Euros for the "mosque view" rooms are well worth it.

Location of this hotel was wonderful and it had a beautiful exterior courtyard. Everything else was poor. Room was so small we could barely fit two averaged sized people in it and it was excrutiatingly hot. Air conditioning was not working and when we reported that to the front desk they said it would be fixed. It was not fixed and we sweated through a second night. Window opened onto a interior airshaft and we could only open it a small bit or else everyone in the other rooms could look into our room. Furniture in room and lobby was tired and old. Had to practically beg the front desk for maps of the area and the check-in/out process was overwhelmed by the tour groups. Insufficient chairs/sofas in lobby area for seating. This was absolutely the worse hotel we were in during our trip, and it was supposedly a 4 star hotel! Other two star hotels and hostels far exceed this hotel. But, for a visit to La Mezquita it did have a good location as it was literally right across the street.

Room Tip: just choose another hotel

This was a return visit to this hotel after a number of years and unfortunately It does not compare with how it used to be. My wife and I together with friends stayed for one night on18th May, 2013. Let's deal with the positives first. The hotel is situated right next to the mosque. Being in the Historic Quarter the hotel is of course an old building but the rooms are a reasonable size and the bed was good and firm. In the centre of the hotel is a beautiful courtyard, tranquil with lots of lovely plants and water features where you can enjoy a relaxing drink.
The hotel now seems to be owners by a company called EXE. Since I was last here there appears to have been cutbacks on the staff. The car park is under the hotel with a narrow entrance. Last time we were offered Valet parking. This service is no longer available. On checking in there was a queue of five guests with only one person attending to us, resulting in a wait of 25 minutes to check in. An afternoon drink in the courtyard was spoilt by trying to find someone to serve us. In the end we had to go to reception to complain. At breakfast there were no staff to see to you as you entered the restaurant. The coffee was from a machine and the breakfast was distinctly average. Finally we had to wait 20 minutes to check out. None of these issues were the fault of the staff, it's just that there are not enough of them. In my view this hotel would sit more comfortably as a 3 star and not the 4 star it currently holds.
Cordoba itself is a wonderful city to visit. Besides the famous mosque itself the city boasts some magnificent gardens.

Thinking of the excellent staff, we would rather have given 4 stars, but the rooms, corridors and general feel of the hotel require some upgrading soon. We stayed the first night in a smoking room, which was terrible and we could only change the next day. Location of the place was great and also the courtyard was really nice. Considering the other hotels we stayed in during our trip, this really came out last. But the staff deserve credit for trying so hard and keeping a friendly attitude. As far as the recommendation goes, I would say it is worth it, if you get a good deal.
