“Unbeatable location, but pricey for what it is”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Stayed here for a night during a tour of Andalucia with a friend. You cannot beat it for location - the side gate to the Patio de los Naranjas at the Mezquita is directly across from the hotel entrance.
Very interesting interior, with inside courtyard for breakfasts (didn't sample - went up the hill for best value breakfast ever with locals at Fifth Avenue) and lots of historical-looking artefacts. Felt slightly dark and moribund though, and the staff were fairly helpful without being particularly friendly.
Our twin room inexplicably had four beds so it was as well it was reasonably large. Quiet though and a good night's sleep. Didn't see loads of other options for hotels, so in the price bracket, for atmosphere and location I'd probably recommend it even if I would probably look for somewhere else myself.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a good view. Didn't get one, so may not matter what you ask for. We sta...

Our room was small, clean and somewhat quiet. Internet only worked in the lobby. Our beds were hard as a slab of cement.

The hotel is in a great location, directly across from the Mezquita Mosque. I assume this is the reason we were charged 125 Euro per night. The room and hotel do not justify the price, particularly when compared to better hotels that we stayed in in Madrid and Sevilla for less money. "Old town" Cordoba is relatively small. We pretty much walked the whole thing, so there is no reason to stay right across from the Mequita.

We chose this because we wanted to be near the Mesquita and also to enjoy the active night life when many of the tourists leave. This was perfect. We had a lot of fun wandering around the old city at night. it has a vibrant night life, at least on a Saturday night. then we were in a perfect location to go the Mesquita on Sunday morning. it was open from 8:30 to 11 a.m and was not busy!

We had room 25 which looked right over the Mesquita. Sure there was noise, but when we closed the heavy shutters, it was just mild white noise until the street cleaners came around 6:30 a.m.

There was no elevator to this room but it was just one flight of 14 steps.

The courtyard and antiques in the common areas were lovely . The room was adequately furnished. Our only complaint was that the bed was incredibly hard, much harder than elsewhere in Spain. It was a small double as well. Get a new mattress and add two individual pillows and I would change this to 5 stars!

There were complimentary bottles of water, baskets of fruit, and a map provided. There was also a nice box of toiletries that included everything from soap, dental kit, comb, shoeshine brush.

We chose not to drive into the hotel but wish we had once we saw the parking was underground right next to the hotel. But it was nice to let the taxi driver navigate through all of the pedestrians. It was easy to park down on Avenue Victoria in a parking garage and catch a taxi right there.

The day time reception man spoke English well enough to answer our questions. He was helpful with locking our luggage in the locked room after we checked out as well.

No, having just come from The Ritz in Madrid, the Mezquita was a bit lacking in the luxury department. That makes it a good money-saving option for those who have chosen to splurge elsewhere.
For me, the beds were too hard and the noise too loud - our room was on the 3d floor and although not directly on the square in fromt on the mosque/cathedral the noise was disturbing. Quite possibly there are quieter rooms on internal courtyards - ASK.
Someone mentioned no elevator;however, there was indeed one that lead to my section of the hotel.
The staff was by no standard proficient in English, fine by me as I wanted to practice Spanish. Everyone my son or I encountered was friendly and helpful, with the possible exception of the "breakfast lady:, who was a bit of a martinet.
The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom more than adequate. Yes, I would stay again.

Room Tip: Inside courtyard rooms have to be quieter than those that front the mosque or the little square and...

Although old, the hotel is located right in front of the Mezquita and the rooms are spacious. You have to carry your bags up a floor but the service is extremely friendly. They even have lockers in case you want to leave your things after checkout.

Pretty hotel & great central location but parking impossible & in the loudest square near the Mezquita. It was incredibly noisy with busy nightlife & drunks singing outside all night long so impossible to sleep. Also amenities were incredibly poor- not even soap was provided!! Very annoying not to have basics like hair dryer & shampoos etc as parking is very difficult to find. Had to park ages away & take just what I needed for the night with me as I've been travelling around Spain for 10 days & had a large instead of small overnight bag. Didn't feel comfortable lugging luggage around & risking getting robbed! I was more than happy doing this in all the other paces I stayed even Malaga & Seville! Wish they had mentioned the difficulties when I check in or on their website so I could had prepared better / booked a different hotel!!

Our second stay here & worth coming back to: right in the heart of the old town with lots of rooms facing the east side of the Mezquita, minimal traffic noise given the traffic restrictions (or you can get an inside room onto a courtyard), plenty of character to the internal courtyards and the old furniture in the public areas, comfortable beds though a bit on the small side, friendly staff, good self-service breakfast, wi-fi, parking next door - and relatively cheap. Feels much nicer than its official 2-star status. We thoroughly recommend it.
