Visited Alcazar prior to a tour of the Mezquite. Medieval castle structure occupied by Visigoths, Moors and Christian kings. 2 towers with nice views of the town, a couple of rooms with furnishings from the later period. Some nice Roman mosaics in the main hall. Kids seems to enjoy the medieval castle ramparts and towers. The real star here is the expansive gardens with a main allee of manicured cypresses with statues and long pool fountain. Various other water features, box hedges filled with flowering annuals, topiaries, palm and fruit trees and potted plants. Morning or late afternoon visit is best when the sun is not beating straight down. 1.5 hours max.
