“Calm and relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2012

This beautiful hotel is well located within 10 mins ambling distance to the Mesquita. The rooms are comfortable and very well maintained. After wandering around the Juderia we enjoyed coming "home" to relax on the balcony overlooking the central patio. The little restaurant attached to the hotel served delicious tapas. Staff were friendly and attentive. Cordoba was very quiet when we visited in April so we were not disturbed by the noise that other reviewers have commented on.

We had a good welcome and friendly service throughout, and found the hotel full of quirky charm and character - a delightful place to stay, in good location. Our room was spacious and well-appointed, the beds comfortable; it faced the rear and there was some noise from the courtyard below one evening. However, late eating and loud talking do characterise Spanish dining, and will be a problem anywhere noise from dining areas can be heard in bedrooms. Breakfast was good. Finding the place with our rented car was..... challenging!, but garaging for 15Euros/day was provided once there.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for a room that does not look out onto the patio at the back.

Despite an excellent location and a certain degree of charm, this hotel is way overpriced for what it offers. And the noise from its restaurant (dinner begins at 9:00),rivaling a children´s playground on a Saturday afternoon, doesn´t make for a good night´s sleep.

À great place! Manuel manages perfectly this little paradise. We stayed 2nights, we got an upgrade to the lovely suite, à very quiet large authentic room with huge bathroom on the back of the house, well cleaned, great breakfast and in à very good location, in 7 minutes to the mezquita. Quiet and not to touristic area. What a great value for money and a true delight to stay. And such à friendly staff!

Room Tip: Every room is large and authentic, take maybe à room on the back

We enjoyed this hotel overall. However, the second night we were there, the owners returned from the restaurant they own at about 1 am and were talking loudly with at least one other person. The window to our room opened up to the central courtyard so we were wakened by the noise. They proceeded noisly up the stairs to their quarters which were above our room and continued talking and moving about for some time. I said something the next morning to the assistant, and I am sure that she must have reported this to the owner. However, although he was pleasant, he did not apologize. I think that he must not be very sympathetic to the needs of his guests. The rooms in the back of the hotel which look over the restaurant have to be very noisy every evening since most of the tables are on the open patio.

If you like Andalusian colors, flowers and tiles, you will love this small hotel. The proprietor is helpful and knowledgeable. He was also the cook the night we ate at the hotel and the food was delicious. Good location for sightseeing and a charming respite to return to when you are ready for a siesta.

Stayed 2 nights during Easter week in a superior room. The location is fine. Room was a good size and the bathroom was big and well appointed. However the bedroom was rather bare and could have easily been made to feel more comfortable. Breakfast was a bit basic and the room felt rather like a hostel. Courtyard is nice as is the library / internet room. Staff very friendly.
Taberna Rafalete which is very close is a good value and smart local restaurant / bar.
