“Refreshing Oasis in Cordoba”
Reviewed 6 July 2009

This was the best hotel we stayed at during our travels around Spain. It was extremely hot while we were there - over 100 F most days, but the hotel was very cool, and the pool and beautiful courtyard garden were a real treat in the afternoons. It was a great way to combine historic sight seeing with a bit of a relaxing resort/spa vacation. The staff was very young and friendly, and they really went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and quiet even when its full as it was during half of our stay. Although it is more of a romantic, adult hotel the hotel was very accepting of children. I have to say despite previous reviews the food we had pool side at the hotel was really good. Nacho who worked pool side was always prompt and helpful. Our child says, "the room was great, the location was great, but being a child at the pool was hard sometimes because you had to stay quiet." The location was great in my opinion because you're out of the ultra touristy area in the Juderia and only have a very interesting 15 min walk to get to it. We really enjoyed being in the more local part of this small city. There were great cafes and stores only a few minutes walk away. We were always very happy to return to our Oasis in Cordoba after a very long hot day. As a matter of fact we spent a lot of time just lounging by the pool!

A most stylish and beautiful interior combining the history of one of Cordoba's historic buildings with elegant modernity. Staff were excellent as you would expect from a top rated hotel. Whilst not in the most central part of the sightseeing sites it is within easy walking distance.
Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed for 3 nights in May. Beautiful hotel - mixture of old building and very modern stylish interior certainly works. Bedroom was lovely, good size, great bathroom. Room cleaned at least twice a day. The courtyard was beautiful, lovely at night all lit up. Loved the Roman Baths - very relaxing after lots of walks around Cordoba. Staff very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations - ask them, they definitely know the best places. Despite what other reviewers found the service we had in the courtyard in the evenings was excellent, the wine and coffee were great. Beautiful pool area, very relaxing. Without doubt this must be the best hotel in Cordoba. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Just wish I could find more hotels like this one.

We planned only one night in Cordoba, taking the AVE from Madrid, then picking up a car to drive to Granada the next day. I knew we wanted to see the Mezquita...but I didn't know how much we'd enjoy the town and the hotel.

This hotel is simply gorgeous. Our room was small, but beautifully equipped with a very comfortable bed and flat screen TV. French doors opened to a view of the pool and a tree-shaded courtyard - very private and lovely. If our stay was longer, we definitely would have spent time at the pool. There was a large closet with safe and minibar.

The entry courtyard was also lovely, with lots of tables and greenery. They do serve drinks and tapas there...but the service is extremely poor, and the tapas were inedible. The dining room was beautiful, and we would have eaten there. But given our bad experience with cocktails (and other reviews on this site) we went to a restaurant down the street and had a pleasant meal.

The hotel is so gorgeous and pleasant, it's hard to understand why the management doesn't improve the food and service. We would very much like to return and would choose this hotel again...but we wouldn't even think about eating there again!

We stayed for one night only in September 2008. We arrived in the early-afternoon after driving from Granada and stayed at the hotel to make use of the pool, the Spa and had a relaxing evening in the hotel. The bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom had good quality products. We dined at their restaurant that night which was expensive and to be honest not worth it, although the breakfast the following morning was delicious and there was plenty of choice. We then set off early to see Cordoba and spent the whole day sight seeing before returning to the hotel late afternoon to collect our car and luggage as arranged with the hotel staff. Cordoba is lovely and my only regret was that we didn't spend our evening out enjoying the local restaurants and nightlife. This means another trip to Cordoba when I will return to the Hospes Palacio del Bailio.

This is a lovely hotel, our room was spacious and very comfortable. It was a little hard to find when arriving by car due to a lack of signs. The check in staff were friendly and helpful. The big let down was the service in the courtyard bar. We had a long wait to be served and then a long wait for our order which when arrived was wrong.

Europe is full of Roman Ruins and this hotel built a glass-floored dining room over theirs. The effect is unusual and I the whole property combines the ancient with the modern in interesting ways. I may just be grumpy because my room opened onto an air shaft but nice public spaces do not make up for small, dark rooms.
It will be a good brisk walk or a short cab ride to the places in Cordoba that you want to see. It took us at least half an hour to walk to the Jewish Quarter. We walked back and forth several times during a two-night stay and navigation was never easy. If you leave the hotel take a good map with you because getting back will be harder than you think .
