We stayed here for 2 weeks last year in August and it was fantastic. We had booked it in January so we got priority room no 1 which has had such visitors as Queen Elizabeth and Penelope Cruz.. it was a suite and was so amazing.. it had it's own sitting room.. just luxury.. The only thing I would have to say against it was that there was no balcony to outside .. you had to sit around the bar/pool area if you wanted to sit out. Other than that I have no complaints.. it was an amazing hotel, fantastic staff, gorgeous food.. a little expensive but worth it.

Room Tip: Higher floors will have less noise from the many weddings it caters for.

Old 'Bodega' transformed into hotel with all the details to enjoy the stay, the nice exterior patio, I see it clean, looks new, people are nice, silent, spacious room (241 at least), nice breakfast, very well positioned and close to great fish restaurants such as "Romerijos"- which I love to come to eat great fish/ sea food everytime I am around here.

The hotel had organized a wedding party while staying there which was unacceptable.
It was impossible to sleep , the music volume was like in a disco.
The staff didn't care about our complain ( we were not the only ones to complain)
no discount despite the inconvenience.
We were very disappointed.

The staff at the Bodego Real was all very friendly and helpful. The rooms and the whole hotel was spotless, the cleaning staff were always busy and courteous. The room we had was spacious but very dark as we only had a small window with no outlook. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were disappointed that there was no Jacuzzi as had been advertised. The hotel was convenient for the railway station and a sherry bodega around the corner but nothing else. It was a steady 15 minute walk to the town centre and the restaurants. If you want to take the catamaran over to Cadiz (which is lovely) it was a good 25 minute walk.

The beach when you find it was over an hour's walk from the hotel or a 10 euro taxi fair each way (no buses)

On the whole we were very disappointed with Santa Maria it is a shabby town, a long way to the beach and harbour area from the centre

To conclude if you are travelling with a car in this area the hotel is very nice. I wish I could say the same for the town

We stayed at the Bodega Real for three nights while we explored Cadiz, 30 minutes away by boat. What a delight! Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient, the impeccably-clean rooms were large with lovely decor and excellent air-conditioning (a necessity in mid August!), and the breakfasts were impressive - as were the mojitos, enjoyed in the courtyard of an evening. The cool underground car park was a real boon.

Nice hotel for the price but certainly not 4 stars as advertised, at least not by American standards. Room was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, staff were friendly and the hotel is in a decent location. The downside and why it doesn't deserve a higher rating, in my opinion: (1) there was wi-fi only available in the lobby/cafeteria, not in the rooms. (2) my room had two windows but they both faced concrete walls, allowing no view. (3) there was no pool but there were 3 jacuzzi tubs on the roof which was nice but the water wasn't warmed, the one had lots of sand in it and they closed the roof at 8pm, well before sunset. (4) Restaurant is quite good but very expensive, especially for breakfast; however, we had an issue with billing that we didn't realize until afterwards...we were in town for a family wedding and a few other American guests of the wedding were also staying at this hotel. My family ate lunch inside the cafeteria area where another family was dining outside on the patio. When our bill came, it seemed quite high but we didn't speak enough Spanish to question it so we paid it and left. Only later when talking with the other family did we determine that the waiter put the food/drinks for both tables all on one bill, despite that both groups weren't together. When the second family asked for their bill, they were told that we paid it for them...odd and utterly unacceptable given that we didn't ask them to do so!

Room Tip: anything with a view - ours was in a corner and had NO view!

Stayed here for 1 month with work, great food and service. Underground car park fine but tricky access. 2 mins walk to los portales central area of town with bars and good seafood places. Train station is very close by with quick links to Jerez, Seville and Cadiz
