“Lots of character, odd beach”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2012

Just come back from a week's stay here (last week of September). Although built recently, this hotel feels nice and Spanish and quirky with loads of pictures on the walls, antique ornaments in old fashioned wooden cabinets, an ancient piano etc. As other reviews say, really helpful staff including in the bar who turned out a nice meal for us, even tho' we had arrived from the airport 10 minutes after the 10.30 closing time. The house wine is great and reasonably priced too!

We loved the garden with the 3 pools, smaller ones for toddlers and kids, larger one for adults. Plenty of sunbeds and shade and lovely flowers.

Interesting location. Wonderful pine forest to walk to beaches but although nearest beach is immaculate and huge, it is overlooked by industrial factories of Puerto and Cadiz! So better to walk round to the right and along 2 beaches (past the marina) to another big beach which really does overlook the Atlantic. More surf here so perhaps less suitable for kids?
The rooms a bit outdated- beds were too hard for us but plenty of wardrobe space, decent bathroom, good shutters for the heat , good air con etc

Loved Puerto de la Santa Maria- not as picture perfect as Cadiz but loads of lovely old buildings, squares. Great food- do try the shrimp tortillana

I'd say this is a hotel for a week stay maximum rather than a fortnight family annual holiday. Also welcoming for people on their own

Room Tip: Most rooms don't have a balcony. A few have a shared balcony overlooking the pool. Nice for earl...

Very nice pool area with three different pools. Cleaned every morning. Nice garden. Very friendly staff. Free parking in the street. Relatively close to the beach which is nice. Free wifi in the room.

Clean but very basic rooms, with some things not up to standards. For instance beds a little too soft, no key for safe deposit (so you couldnt use that), shower not very good. Breakfast very simple (only one piece of white bread, coffee and juice), and only one waiter to serve all the guests.

A little too far to the city center.

We paid a little more than EUR 400 for a family room for three days, which is a little above the value.

All in all average

Friendly, welcoming hotel. Lovely room and we were getting great coffee at any time, no problem.Location was no issue and El Puerto was charming (super bodegas and processions). Used ferry often to get to Cadiz and then travelled onwards from there. Saw a lot and had a great time. Would definitely go back.

I really enjoyed my stay here because of the hotel's charming backyard and pool area.

The location is not so great.
Although it is not far from the beach (Puntilla Beach) it is not that close either.

If I was to go back to Puerto de Santa Maria i would chose an accommodation near Catalina Beach. I found that area nicer.

The hotel is located in a residential area on the outskirts of El Puerto de Santa Maria but there is a good bus service into town from the top of the street (please note that the timetable scrawled on the wall is accurate, the published one not so!). Taxis are also good value and plentiful. Our room overlooked the pool which made it ideal for nipping in for drinks while sunbathing. The pool was never busy and the water was clean and a nice temperature. The beach is a ten minute walk through the woods and was well served by a couple of beach bars. The hotel staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We booked room only so couldn't comment on the food. The town has a good variety of bars and restaurants to choose from. The hotel was a good base for exploring the surrounding countryside and one could be on the open road within minutes of leaving the hotel.

Pinomar is a reasonably pleasant hotel. Our room was furnished in a rather basic way but spacious and very clean. Breakfast was continental and very basic, though coffee nice. The staff in the reception was friendly but gave us wrong information all the time. However the major downside of this hotel is the location. It is a long walk to everywhere and there no restaurants within a short distance at all. To make it worse the restaurants in town do not open until 9pm so walking is not an option unless you want to walk back in darkness! I have found nicer looking hotel at the same price in a much better central location but still quiet and close to the beach, so Pinomar is not such a good value for money either. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it to my friends.

My daughter got married in Puerto de Santa Maria in August this year, we wanted a hotel which had a pool big enough to spend a week together with our family and friends, we also wanted something authentic from Andalucia. I began earlier in the year searching the web and found Pino Mar.....I booked 30 rooms directly with he hotel and from day 1 of having contact with them they were excellent!!! We have had a fantastic time in this beautiful hotel the staff could not be more helpful in every way, shape or form. Muchas gracias a todo el equipo en Pino Mar

Room Tip: It is best to plan to go out for dinner, there are lots of nice restaurants in el Puerto and the tax...
