Have stayed at a number of Marriott resorts and this is probably our new favourite. Very clean, activities for all ages and restaurants outside of the resort within walking distance. Reception staff and concierge were the best we have come across, helping us with transfers, car hire etc before we arrived and with all manner of things (including a last minute booking for a friend whose apartment within the vicinity of one of the fires that sprang up whilst we were there) during our visit. You normally get at least one surly face behind reception who you try to avoid if you have a question, but not so here!

An excellent resort. We were not sure quite what to expect. The appartment was excellent, the fact it was serviced every day was great; giving us the best of both worlds of good space but hotel service. Our childen loved the pools, the paddle tennis & the orgainsed activities. The staff throughout were fantastic. An excellent holiday.

Pools are wonderful particularly the kids pool. kids' club staff are dedicated and my son was eager to attend the activities which are varied and are on daily. The apartment was well-equipped and the restaurant food quite pleasant. Lovely break, totally recommendable! And lots to do. The kids loved the mini golf, too.

Room Tip: A two bedroom sleeps 6 easily. If you are with young kids request a room at the Granada building.

For some reason Marriott don't seem to promote the excellent nearby tennis facility just 200m walk via the beach and up through the Atalya hotel to Troyano superb clay and hard court tennis facility where there are more than a dozen courts, excellent coaching if needed and its both handy and reasonably priced! (perhaps Marriott wanted a 'commission' before they'd recommend Troyano tennis but get there and make something special of your visit to PA.

Everything about this property was first rate, from the spacious well maintained rooms to the grounds which were beautiful and a pleasure to walk through.

We normally stay in first class hotels and were consequently a little apprehensive about staying in an apartment but having our own kitchen meant we did not need to constantly incur the expense of eating out, especially when we just wanted a snack. With a restaurant on the complex we opted to have some breakfasts at the buffet which was comparable with any hotel.

We did attend a timeshare presentation but were not convinced this would be worthwhile with lots of verbal promises about exchange schemes and little on paper. However, I would not spend £40,000 on the basis of an hour and half chat and I suggest that you give youself at least a few days to think about such a major financial comitment.

This was an exceptional resort and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: We prefered Huelva block as it felt more private and less noisy than overlooking the pools but was s...

This review is probably mostly helpful if you are concidering buying a timeshare apartment.
I won't go into the details of the concept though.

My family and I went to this resort as part of a promotion tour to "inspire buying a Marriott timeshare". And guess what - it worked!
Four nights in this apartment absolutely won us over but for "tactical reasons" we ended up buying an apartment in Paris, as we prefer to change location from year to year.
However, I can understand the appeal of buying a share in Estepona if your family enjoys returning to a specific place several times.

As I'm one of two adult children in my family, the fact that the pool was not open wasn't a problem at all. It does look child-friendly though.

Estepona itself is a great base for exploring Andalucia. We practically visited all the must see cities (plus a few not so must see) so it was nice to return to a quiet place in the evenings.
A (rental) car is a necessary expence though, if you want to go outside Estepona.

Our apartment had two bedrooms: one double with a private bathroom plus one twin room without. The common bathroom is right next to the twin room though and both rooms can be locked off from the rest of the apartment.
The common room has a good size - not too big not too small - with an open well-equiped kitchen, dining area and has a balcony.
Our apartment only had evening sun but I can imaging that's a GOOD thing in the summer.

The room was clean, the people in the reception were helpful and the entrance guard recognized us from day one! Very VIP.

I absolutely recommend this resort!

Room Tip: I recommend a room higher than ground level. For the view.

Just came back from a 3 day stay at the resort. Can't understadn why I waited a year to actually take up the offer. Stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment and was pleasantly surprised with the welcome basket of tea etc that waited for us as it was rather late by the time we got in. The shop on site was near closing but the manager graciously kept it open as we grabbed a few things. The apartment was large and had everything you would need to be able to self cater if you choose to. The daily maid service is handy as they made the beds, loaded the dishwasher and cleaned up after you so it did not seem such a chore. TV in rooms had BBC and CNN so we could catch up with Olympics news. The restuarant on site was good. On the first night they too stayed open late so we could get dinner. We all had a massage the next day, me on the beach and the guys in the spa. The flamenco dance show was great. My son joined in and managed to shake a leg with the beautiful dancers! His holiday was made.
Minor irritant was the fact that a lamp in the living room did not work! Not something major but you would expect Marriott to have checked everything out.
The staff were really helpful. My daughter lost her new Marc Jacobs sunglasses near the games area. The receptionists took our details down and low and behold our glasses were found a couple of days later and shipped out to us in London. We were notified by email and I can't thank them enough for that.
We are looking forward to go back to the resort next year as we bought a timeshare there. The presentation was around 2hours but we are really glad they took the time to explain everything available to us as members.
