“Great family day out for families!”
Reviewed 11 June 2012

Selwo have three attractions that can be purchased at good discounts. For families it's small children, this provides a great offer and each of the three attractions is enjoyable. Selwo. Adventura is a safari park styled attraction. Kids will love the open backed safari trucks as they travel around the complex, where you can get up close to rhinos, camels, deer, zebras and many more big animals. There are areas that you can walk around and explore at each truck stop. The mini farm is quaint and the monkey section very noisy! You need full day to enjoy the park. It does get very hot so make sure you have plenty of water and snacks. The food is standard fast food but the flies are a nuisance. There are a few pit stops for food and water, along with drinks vending machines. Nice day out for young children.

“Wild animals out and about...”
Reviewed 27 May 2012

Families will enjoy this park as it is quite scenic and has a small petting farm for people of all ages. We just thought that it was a bit overpriced - but understand that the upkeep as well as the care of the animals has its price.

Beware of the bird observation area - one of the furry feathered creatures snuck up from behind and started pecking and spreading its wings. It was funny in the beginning but may be a bit scary and shocking for small children.

“A Grand Day Out”
Reviewed 16 May 2012

Apart from having to pay 3€ to use the car park, everything well worth the ticket money.
We bought our tickets from Rubens Exchange in Benalmadena at 10% discount from the gate price. The drive from Benalmadena took us no more than 50 mins to an hour following the basic, but adequate, instructions from Selwo` leaflet.
The park wasnt very busy when we visited on 10th May and the weather was sunny and around 20c.
The park is divided up in to 3 seperate areas, with truck safari vehicles to shuttle between the areas and take you close to the animals. The shuttles would be a little cramped in high season i think. They left each loading area every 15mins on our visit.
Each are has plenty of animals to see. Although the ought to tie a float to the hippos as they take some spotting when 90% of them is under water LOL.
The enclosures seem reasonably spacious, if a little bereft of any greeenery or vegetation.
At our first drop off there were Lions with Cubs, Zebras, Giraffes and Elephants as well as antelope.
The food at this first stop consisted of a kiosk selling sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos n cheese and pizza. A beer is 5.95€ rip off. Water is 1.50€ for 500ml. Same from the many vending machines around the park. There were other cafes etc at this stop but they were closed on our visit.
Onto the next section, after a steep downhill truck ride we started to climb past the bears enclosure, fantastic to see the Bears sat in there pool of water just chilling, must say the enclosure was massive. Next on to the tigers, again nice to see a big enclosure and brilliant to see the tigers close up to the fence. The next stop in this section is at a restaurant in the highest point of the park.
As we had seen rope bridges over the valleys/animal enclosures we decided to walk back towards the main gate. This walk takes you on a "as the crow flies route" back to the Elephant enclosure and then on to the valley of the birds which is a large valley enclosed in mesh with exotic birds flying "free". The rope bridges dont take you over any dangerous animals (although mountain goats and camels may hurt when biting you) but they are a little wobbly.

Apart from the usual "theme Park" rip offs of food and drink prices a very good value for money out for all.
One word of warning for visitors with pushchairs. They need to fold down quite small as they have to fit between the safari lorries seats.
I dont think the animals will be very active in high season either, by mid afternoon on our vist temp was up to around 25c and they all went and laid in the shade.

“A great day out”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

Selwo is an African themed safari park housing 2000 animals from giraffes to panthers in semi-wild conditions. Only 20 minutes drive away (and on the public transport route) from Estepona Marina, Selwo is ideal for the perfect family day out. It can include a fair amount of walking so make sure you take your sun tan Lotion to cover up on the hotter days.
