It is free to walk in amongst the ruins of the Roman theater, so I don't know why most people chose not to. Literally next to the Alcazaba, it's hard to miss and it's free so why not go? Very impressive to walk around

I missed this attraction last time I visited Malaga, but found it when I visited again recently. You can see the Roman Theatre without paying to visit, although you can get a guided tour if you want to. At the base of the walls of the Alcazaba, the theatre and some other Roman remains are worth a visit and a photo opportunity. There is an entrance to the upper tiers of seats near the entrance to the Alcazaba and the wide footpath at the front also provides a good viewing point. There are information boards around the area, but for more detailed information you would need to actually go in to the theatre.

The Roman theatre in the southern Spanish city of Malaga is thought to have been built early in the first century A.D. The theatre represents classic Roman design, with tiered seating and a grand entrance. My wife and I spent some time sat there in the sun just chilling and imaging what it was like when first built. Thought provoking indeed.

Roman theatre is located in the bottom of the hill right next to the entrance to Alcazaba and a lovely square full of flowers. You don't need much time to explore this location so, even if you're in a hurry, this place is worth visiting.
