“Functional but still 20 euros to the airport”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

I initially booked this hotel as it was theoretically close the the airport, however I had exactly the same problem as the previous reviewer .. After getting the train from main train station Malaga Maria zambrugo to the airport, I was under the impression that it would be easy to get to the hotel. After asking the taxi drivers in the airport it is 15 euros minimum fare. In their own website it says 2 min drive to the airport and no further directions as to how to get to and from the airport. I noted as I walked around with my luggage that the holiday inn express had their own bus and wished I had gone with them or stayed in town and booked a taxi early in the morning, would probably have only cost me 30 euros.
After enquiring at the information desk, I was told to get bus A and ask the bus driver to stop, there is a footbridge across the motorway . This cost 3 euros.
In retrospect , had I known the location and the fact that the hotel was in the middle of the motorway and commercial district and not that accessible to the airport, I would not have booked here.
The rooms were functional and well designed and good that the was a kettle. However my air conditioning was not working in the room and I had to move. It would have been nice if they offered to help with my luggage for the inconvience caused at least and they didn't give me the key for the other room in wch the AC didn't work to get the rest of my luggage until I had to go down and ask again for this.
Te restaurant itself had no veggie dishes apart from pizza Quattro formaggio and a salad.
To be honest I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I was a lone female traveller and purely booked ot for ease to get to the airport which wasn't really easy and still expensive . There is no information aout how to get around and it's in a dodgy area. You wouldn't want to walk around after dusk here.
I managed to get them to ask if I could share a cab as they were going to call 2 cabs going at 0515 which was fine. But what a potential waste.

I spent just under 20 Euros getting from the airport to the hotel. It is not their fault they said at the front desk. I had gone to 2 information kiosks at the airport to ask if there was a bus, the first declaring she was not from Malaga, and the second declaring that there is a bus, but you have to cross a busy motorway.

The issue may not be the hotels fault per se, BUT this is my issue...

On pressing the employee, he admitted that this was a very common issue and that they were sick to death of being blamed for this same problem - even to the extent that their boss no longer petitioned the city.

Well here are two solutions for you:

1) Put some information up at the airport and MAKE SURE the information kiosks have your flyer decalring not only what times the busses run from, but also from where and what route.Oh, and a map may be useful - showing that you do indeed cross a busy road - but by a pedestrian bridge (I believe). Hmmm - now this wouldnt cost too much?

or

2) Run your own bus service and charge a 5'er - you would make a killing!

The Moral: STOP BLAMING everyone else! It may well be a problem, but USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.Let's face it, people only stay at the hotel for a night's kip - nothing else as it is in the middle of an industrial estate!

I will never stay there again, and would recommend you don't either. The staff can be pretty rude too!

The hotel was nice, for one night, was fairly expensive stay for only a night. The fire alarms kept going off. We went down to the bar for a couple drinks and the service was slow, and staff just hanging round. Not many places to go around and look.

Clean, friendly but basic, but ideal for such a short Trip. Easy CheckIn and the Staff there did speak english. Room was very basic, butin the usual Standard this Hotels have mostly and we could sleep well there. There was a small choice of Breakfast, but we did not make use of it, due it had to be paid extra. We can recommend this, for short Stay. For longer Stay, maybe it will be too basic and boring.

Better then expected. No Frills, but a friendly Service and clean Room at this Campanile Hotel in Malaga. We had to spend only one Night there and for this Reason it was fully ok to go there. Room was very simple outfitted - as usual in this Hotels - but we already used to be and that was fully ok for just one Night. for Breakfast, we did choose, we have to say that is basic but especially the Coffee there was great. Campanile is modern Hotel!

Actually very impressive, clean, tidy and modern, restaurant was closed on the Sunday when I stayed, but a mall is very close and the restaurant menu looked reasonable enough.

Rooms are very modern and clean.

The airport is 2 bus stops away which a costs 3 euros, the bus stop is a 5 minute walk if that, cab costs 20 Euros.
