I am very happy and received alot more than I was expecting. Service and attention were always more than considerate and prompt thanks to Carolina (owner). She helped with translations for my flights, laundry, additional stays etc. All the rooms and place is cleaned everyday as i witnessed. Location wise, can not ask for better. It is right in the heart of all restaurants, bars, shopping etc with only 10-15mins walk to the beach. The only place i need to stay when i return to Malaga sometime soon.

The room was very clean and had everything we needed with no bad surprise (TV, small fridge, bathroom), although it was a bit small. The balcony was also small but very nice to have!

What made our stay at Hostal La Palma an extremely pleasant one was the friendliness of the owner lady. She smiles, she helps, we felt very welcome and at no point we felt that this was an 'industrial' hotel.

Definitely recommend this place!!!

I was only in Málaga for one night and found La Palma late in the afternoon, after being pointed there by another hostal. I was impressed.

The lady on reception (Cristina, I think) was very kind and friendly. She spoke a very clear and understandable Spanish (plus also speaks English).

Location is spot-on, too. Right in the centre of old Málaga, it's ideal for shops, cafes, etc.

I definitely recommend the place.

I staid here for 4 nights and must say it was a great surprise. It's a low budget hostel... but feels so safe and calm, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the lady at the reception is second to none.
Great value for money!

Room Tip: The rooms giving out on Calle Martinez are nicest. Cosy, private colourful.

I really wasn't sure where to stay in Malaga, so I decided to try something cheap and cheerful. Problem was, it was only cheap. In all due respect, however, much of this came down to the fact that the building the hostal is in is being renovated. That meant that the entry foyer to the building and the stairwell were absolutely revolting: dirty, dusty, rubbish and cigarette butts on the floor. A bit like walking through a garbage can to get to your room.

I was in room 305, which had its own bath. The water in the shower was so hot, I burned myself. And there was a peculiar and unpleasant in the bathroom, too.

The TV in the room didn't work.

Despite all of this, I am rating the hostal as "average," and this comes down to one thing only: Caroline. She is, as other reviewers have written, always ready to help and always very pleasant. I believe that once the renovations are done, Hostal la Palma will be a much better place to stay.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask if the renovations have been completed.

Very clean rooms with sink and very clean common or private bathroom. Most of them have a (sunny) private balcony. Very well located: close to the harbour, the bus stops on Alameda Principal (also for the bus to and from the airport), the market, shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and the main attractions of beautiful Malaga. Caroline, the friendly owner, will point them out to you on the free map you will get as soon as you arrive. She will also tell you where you can have breakfast (less than 5 EUR), lunch, dinner or just tapas; where you can taste the famous Malaga wines; how you can get to Pedregalejo alongside the beach (5 km) to have grilled sardines there or other fresh fish or seafood. In fact, you can ask her anything you need to know. There is no curfew (you have your own keys): fortunately, because in the city center party goes on until the early hours... even during the week. Book in advance; no need to pay a deposit nor give your credit card number. Just look up the hostal's website on the internet and send Caroline an e-mail.

I have stayed at Hostal La Palma several times in recent years in various rooms in the Hostal and I have never been disappointed.
The Hostal is in a great location for shops, sights and beach.
The rooms are always scrupulously clean, with good mattresses and most with balconies.
The owner, Caroline could not be more helpful and accommodating.
