“Best in Malaga, really, seriously”
Reviewed 1 April 2013

This is not a restaurant you just walk past, its off the tourist track, just opposite the port. That said, its only five minutes walk from the Cathedral. This is to me the best food in Malaga. Their bar part serves fantastic tapas during lunch time, and the restaurant is open lunch and dinner as well. The food is excellent, and so are the wines and the service. The value for money is also excellent. I suppose the only thing it does not give is a tourist experience, but there are plenty of other options for this.

“Excellent quality Spanish/International restaurant”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

Manducare restaurant is located in the port area of Malaga, not far from the central tourist office, Alameda Principal and Plaza de la Marina. It is popular with business people. It is attractively decorated in a modern style and is bright with large windows to the street. There is also a bar serving tapas with drinks.

2 of us went here for lunch. The menu is Spanish and International, with some interesting dishes on offer. We chose the homemade foie gras to share as a starter (€16.30), which comprised 3 generous portions of foie gras, beautifully presented with an apple sauce – delicious.

For mains one chose the fillet of beef au gratin (€22.40), attractively presented with dauphinoise potatoes and cooked exactly as requested medium to well-done. The other chose magret of duck (€16.30) served pink and with potatoes and a redcurrant sauce – exquisite and delicious.

To finish one had the chocolate coulant (€4.60) – delicately presented and scrumptious.

The restaurant is not cheap but the food quality and cooking are exceptional. Service was very professional, efficient and attentive.

“A great spot”
Reviewed 24 October 2012

Recently, I discovered Restaurant Manducare in central Malaga.

We started the meal with aperitifs of Ensalada Rusa with Gambas and Alorenas served with a perfect Fino. The next course was an exquisite warm Salad with lightly fried Calamares and Gambas. This was followed by delicious Croquettes of Gambas Pil Pil with homemade Aioli. The fish course comprised of a perfectly cooked fillet of Sea Bass on a bed of delicately prepared vegetables with a Pesto salsa. We followed with a fillet of tender Beef served on a bed of rich Bomba risotto exquisitely flavoured with Foie Gras and Fungi. The elegant structure of the meal was maintained by a fine postre of Toffee Mousse with Strawberries. The excellent Cafe was accompanied by an unexpected treat of Chocolate with Salt on crisp bread with Olive oil.

The whole meal was beautifully presented with each plate resembled a work of art. I particularly enjoyed the constant referencing to Andalucian tradition whilst maintaining fresh creativity. The use of top quality local ingredients combined for maximum flavour is a winning combination.

I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a perfect meal on a special occasion. Equally, the tapas at the bar are served with same special attention to detail and wonderful ingredients. English speaking customers are welcomed by the attentive staff that have a good command of the language.
