Stayed here for a convention. Facilities at the hotel are perfect - spacious rooms, clean, friendly and helpful staff. However, a number of rooms were broken into on one night while we were there. The hotel maintained it was outsiders, but the thieves had a master key, so I would be concerned that it may have been a member of staff...

Aside from this issue, I'd happily recommend the hotel.

Overall, I liked this hotel alot. Stayed here for 2 nights and would stay here again.

Positives:

Friendly reception and quick check-in. Got a map and advise from reception throughout our stay.

Good size room and a nice, clean, good sized bathroom. Bathroom included complimentary shower gel and hand gel (both big bottles attached so hardly used my toiletries), toothbrush, small toothpaste, shaver and shoe shine. Also, has a bida in bathroom.

Good air-conditioner, plus room temperature control if you don’t want to put on air-con. Very impressed.

Good buffet breakfast selection, including eggs, bacon, salmon, pastries, bread, cereals, fruit etc. Was very impressed.

Good location to the surrounding malls. One is round the corner! Also, is a good location to the bus stop, where you can catch the bus to the other central shop, bars and the old town etc (otherwise a 10 minute walk) as well as to the beach. Also, a short walk to the central bus station, with buses to other parts of Spain, and the train station, with trains to the airport (quick and very cheap option!).

Negatives:

Our room key was temperamental and sometimes took a while to work to enter our room.

1st room we checked into smelt of cigarettes (but we requested a room change and the staff sorted this out asap).

The curtains are not adjustable and there were no black-out curtains so expect bright light to hit you in the morning!

Overall, really liked this hotel, thought it was good value for the price we paid and would recommend to others visiting Malaga!

Note: Make sure to go check out the local market on Mondays! And the beach is quite nice!

The Tryp Alameda is literally located in a shopping mall and is good for people who like to travel back in time and experience the style and comfort of the early seventies. The staff are not overly friendly and you won't find friends for life amongst them. The first room that the front desk assigned to us was not made and we had to go down to get another one. The concierge didn't find that this was a situation that warrants an apology and gave us another room with directs views of the shopping mall parking deck. The room itself was quite small and dark and was decorated with tacky pictures and retro furniture. I can only confirm what other reviewers say about the noise; it is is quite noisy and there might have been a Poltergeist working all night in the room above ours. The room service menue is quite poor and unambiguously documents that they won't hesitate to sell you pizza from the delivery service across the street.
If you want a coffee, you can draw one from the vending machine on first floor. You can also frequent one of the chavvy beer restaurants in the adjacent shopping mall and it might be a good idea to do so if you want to get some sleep despite of the noise level.
To be fair: the breakfast was quite nice and we really enjoyed it.
This is, however, not a four star hotel and if you want to enjoy some sightseeing in Malaga it might be better to look for a different place.

We stayed here for a weekend to watch Villa play in the Peace Cup 09, the hotel was a good price as we got 3 nights for price of 2 through last min.com.

Rooms were clean and well furnished, quite modern.

Location was slightly out the centre but you can easily walk into the main area or get buses, bus is 1euro 10cents for any trip.

Tip: A good little Irish bar is just around the corner, very friendly and stays open late, they even cooked us a pizza at 2:30am!

Overall good hotel, would reccomend if you are in Malaga.

We stayed here because of the location near the train & bus station and it was only a 10 minute walk into the old town centre. A big modern shopping mall is right next door. Room was a good size & having internet access (at a reasonable cost) was a plus. Great buffet breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. Storing our bags for a few days while we visited Granada was not a problem. Enjoyed our stay.
