“Super location”
Reviewed 31 July 2011

Had a great overnight here before our cruise. The downtown part is literally out the door of the hotel. Staff were pleasant and attentive. We speak Spanish but their English is great. We walked down to the harbor departure area in the morning (10 minutes). The rooms are clean and nice but not contemporary. Kind of old world English decorated. Beds were decent, but could have been softer..I still slept good though. The roof top pool is ok, really the view is what is breathtaking. Kind Of disappointed that the pool is not open at night. Amazing views made up for it. The "fitness room" is really bad. There is an elliptical and one other machine in a closet sized room. They could really improve on that end. Again though I would go back for an overnight type stay. Probably wouldn't stay longer but that is just because I love to workout and wouldn't want to go that long between workouts.

Dear Guest
Thank you very much for your comments.

The hotel is currently undergoing upgrade work and we are improving the decor in the rooms. So we hope you will come and visit us again next time you are in town.

With regard to the gym, unfortunately we do not have enough free space to make it larger. Nevertheless guests do have the opportunity of staying in shape, albeit it in a reduced-size gym.

Kind regards.

We went to Malaga for the weekend and stayed at the Malaga Centro. The hotel is average. On arrival, we were a little disappointed having seen the modern rooms from the website, we found ourselves in an old fashioned room, overlooking a staircase...
We only stayed 2 nights and didn't spend so much time in the hotel...
This hotel definitely needs modernising...

Good value on this trip as breakfast was free (out of season) booking direct with the hotel . The old traditional Spanish rooms are very good value.Best to request a high floor at the back of the hotel. The pool and deck area have been vastly improved, and a sundowner at the bar shows the city at its best in the evening. The hotel still supply soft drinks and water free in your fridge.

I choose this hotel for it´ s location close to city center and you can walk to the catedral within 15 minutes. Our first problem was that we came by car and got little lost in the area becouse there are one-way streets around. Another problem was that every signs was - Hotel Malaga Centro - without "Salles" so we didn´t know if this was the right hotel. Big problem I had was with the car. When I asked if I can park at hotel parking they told me that there isn´t any and I´d use public garage - cost 20 Euro a day! Then I realize that the hotel has small parking lot but only for few cars - maybe my 24 hours stay wasn´t enought for them to let me park there.
On the other hand rest of our stay was great - rooms were clean and have big bathroom. But jewel of this hotel is roof terracewith wonderful city view. There are a bar and nice small pool. We were leaving in the late afternoon/ early evening so we spend a day sightseeing so when we came back we were a little bit hot a so we realy apreciate the possibility of using pool. Lovely end of our spanish holiday.

It is not 4 star hotel but i would give it 3 stars. It is good value hotel in the walking distance to important spots. Free breakfast helped to make decision to choose this one over any other. No regrets.

We chose this hotel because of its good reviews on Trip Advisor (ranked 12 out of 103 Malaga City hotels) but although the location was excellent, it fell down on a number of things I would expect from a four star hotel.

The swimming pool was too small to swim in; it is really just a plunge pool. We went up to the 6th floor for a dip, but saw a notice saying that towels had to be obtained from Reception, so down we went again. We were then told that the towels were obtained from the poolside bar!

There were no toiletries in the bathroom, not even a shower cap, and the towels were small and a bit rough. There were "his and hers" packs - his contained a disposable razor, toothbrush and shoeshine sponge; hers a toothbrush, a couple of cotton buds and sewing kit! Not impressed.

The breakfast, which we got free with a special offer voucher, consisted of the very cheapest cheese and cold meats, a coffee machine and a few dry pastries. I would certainly have complained if I had had to pay €12 for it.

On the plus side, the beds were comfortable with lovely fine cotton sheets, and our 2nd floor room was quiet. But there was barely enough light to read, and the curtains wouldn't open.

My husband and I stayed at the Malaga Centro on April 26 and 27, 2011. We enjoyed the hotel because of its location and price.

We paid $227 for the stay. A nice buffet breakfast was included.

While in Malaga, we never had to use our car as the hotel is located within walking distance of the old town and major touristic attractions.

The pool is nice but small. However, we enjoyed having a drink on the hotel terrace.

Parking location recommanded by the hotel is expensive so we elected to park in the streets around the hotel. Had no problems with the car.
