“Very clean and good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2009

My husband and I booked a night at Zenit Malaga Hotel before heading off to Granada. We wanted a nice clean room near to the town centre so that we could properly enjoy the nearby tapas bars. Not expensive and with a great location, I had absolutely no qualms about this hotel. The bathroom was even a treat, with a marble sink, big bath and great water pressure. Malaga city was also a pleasant surprise, considering we stayed there as a stopover, it is a very pretty city and I would have been happy to stay longer. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an affordable stay and who aren't ashamed to call themselves 'neat freaks'. Zenit was just what we wanted.

This hotel is ok, but not special. We stayed here for one night and spend most of our time in town, and for that purpose this hotel is ok. Rooms are small, but clean. For this price it was good enough...

Loved this hotel. It is on the bus route to everywhere in Malaga and/or a 20 min beautiful walk to the fort and the beach front.

It is clean, the staff is friendly and let us check in early since our flight changed times on us a few days before our trip. We didnt eat at the hotel restaurant. There is a really nice bakery just outside the hotel which is a perfect place to grab breakfast to-go while you walk down to the fort.

I can't praise Hotel Zenit enough! Booked through CentralR.com after reading several reviews of the hotel online. Our double room was spacious and clean and was serviced every day. The staff were all courtious and friendly. There's free Wi-Fi, and the mini bar and laundry service were reasonably priced. The hotel is located a little way out of the centre of Malaga but there is a bus stop just across the road with buses running every 10 mins. until midnight for 1 euro per journey. The walk to town only takes 10 to 15 mins if you are feeling energetic! Get off of the bus just before it goes through the tunnel underneath the castle (Plaza de Mercad) and eat at Limon restaurant (at least once during your stay!) food and staff are great, and then visit Picasso's house and museum situated on the same square. Overall, staying at the Zenit was the making of our holiday, we got to see a part of Malaga we wouldn't otherwise have seen, as most tourists wouldn't probably venture this far to the back of the town. Loved it, we will return!!

Clean! That's the first and lasting impression. The Zenit seems brand new and very modern and everything is very ... well, clean.

We stayed just one night. Our room was small, even by continental European standards and storing two sizeable suitcases was a bit of a squeeze, but everything else was excellent – very quiet, good value for money and pleasant service service. Parking at the garage around the corner is €10 per day – you can pay at the hotel. There is room to pull in at the front of the hotel and they’re happy to let you park there for the time it takes to check in and get into the room.

We didn’t use the restaurant, but the menu looked very interesting with good choices and if the food is good, the price is great value - €11 for three courses.

The immediate neighbourhood is residential with a number of neighbourhood-type bars and cafes where the locals were present in numbers and the atmosphere very pleasant. The atmospheric and busy Plaza de la Merced is a 10-15 minute walk south - lots of restaurant options here. The roast suckling pig upstairs at Meson Cortija de Pepe (downstairs is a buzzing tapas scene) was a highlight of our two-week Spanish trip.

The hotel is about 20 mins walk from the centre of town (Centro). The area around the hotel is a bit shabby but the room and hotel amenities were clean and slightly above the 3 star rating in my humble opinion. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A taxi to and from Centro is about 4 euros so travel is affordable if you would rather not walk. The transfer to/from the airport cost us just under 20euros by taxi. I should also mention the cafe 3minutes away from the hotel where the owner ,Ronald, was very friendly and informative (the coffee was also the best I've had for some time) The people of Malaga are generally very polite and friendly. For example we were having trouble finding the Picasso museum and a gentleman walked up to us to ask if we needed any help. Would definitely visit again.

  • Liked — The large bathroom.
  • Disliked — The lack of TV channels in English. 9 euros to watch films for one day.
