“Poky rooms, bad staff”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

The hostel is pretty centrally located, so it's easy to get around, but this also meant that there's noise from the streets very late into night! The rooms are extremely small, especially the 3-bed dorms. They have a bunk bed & the bottom bed pulls out. If it's pulled out, you need to be more adept than a ballet dancer to move around. It's alright if you're in a group, but could get quite uncomfortable if you're sharing with people you don't know.

We interacted with 1 member of the staff - she was extremely rude & arrogant. Quite contrary to the experience at most other hostels, staff didn't have any local tips on where to dine / party etc. Overall was a disappointing experience, but would be fine if you're just looking for a place to crash.

We were a group of 3 people traveling to Malaga in August 2013. We had a stay of 2 nights in Malaga. Ideally we would have liked a 3 bed room but that was not available.
For the first night, we got a twin room and one of us stayed in a shared dorm.
For the second night, we booked a triple room with an ensuite bathroom.

Once we checked in, the lady gave us a large set of keys for the shared room. There is one room for the main door, one for the floor entrance, one for the room, one for the locker and one for the bathroom.

After the first night, we emptied our room and left he bags at the reception because our other room was not cleaned. We returned to collect our keys for the triple room.

First, the room is very very tiny. There is a bunk bed which has a at ground level mattress to take out for the third person. once the mattress is out, there is absolutely no space left on the floor to walk.

After this, we found out that the bathroom is outside the room on the other end of the corridor. We were given keys to it. So we went to the lady at the reception and told her we had booked ensuite bathroom( even our booking confirmation mentioned that).
This lady was so rude. She said this is what we have. If you don't like it, you can move out.
Now we really didn't have much of an option because it's peak tourist season and we did'nt want to waste our limited time in the city looking for another place to stay.

We went back to our room. This lady barged in saying that "ensuite does not mean connected or attached." She had checked and we were wrong and we could leave and find another place.

So bathroom not being connected was not a big problem but the staff rudeness definitely was.

On the plus side, the hostel is very well located. And there is wonderful bakery right next to it.

I recently spent 4 nights in Malaga with two teenagers. The reason for the trip was to breathe some Spanish air, visit museums, shop, eat well and make excursions. The hotel should be in the historical centre of the city, it should be cheap and it should be charmful. My research ended with a reservation to Vidamia and I got everything I was looking for plus extremely kind staff.
Vidamia is a small hostel but absolutely lovely. I warmly recommend it to others looking for places out of the same criterias as I did.
The rooms are small, yes, but we would not have needed bigger. They were clean and cosy, there was heating and unlimited warm water in the showers. The reception is in the third floor without elevator, yes, but we stayed on the first and second floor and did't feel climbing the stairs as any problem.

Room Tip: I loved room number 2 with a small balcony facing the walking street.

I expected more for the price paid!
We've stayed in a twin room wich was tiny and had an even tinier bathroom. The mattresses are of bad quality. The room hasn't been cleaned fot the time of our stay (3 days) and the towels haven't been changed. The room didn't have a proper window, and what bothered us most was that you could hear practically everything in the room (even our next room neighbour snooring!)
The personel turned out to be extremely unflexible and unhelpful when we wanted to leave for not being able to sleep at all.
Even though there was a bakery just around the corner, they only provide toast bread and packed pastry for breakfast. Don't let the nice photos mislead you. I'm sure you can find something better for this price in Malaga!

Room Tip: Only few of the rooms have proper windows.

We were taken in by the photos on the booking website - unfortunately the room we had was not as spacious as it looked, the white covering on the chair was dirty, the finishing of the renovation was sloppy (skirting board coming away from the wall, gaps in the woodwork). The tiles in the bathroom and the wood on the floor had a design which actually looked as if it were dirty. The breakfast was ok (good coffee and orange juice but indifferent bread, and the butter and jam were hidden away in the fridge so that you would only find them if you made an effort) but cost extra (and more than was stated on the booking website). Reception hours very limited, unlike most other hostales we have used in Spain. Not worth the money - we will go somewhere cheaper next time, and probably just as good.

Stayed two nights in a twin room. Hotel really centrally located yet on quiet street so noise not a problem. The hotel is an old house that has been stylishly renovated without any real upgrades, so don't expect new build hotel features or facilities. The beds were exceptionally comfy but i think the room would have been a little small for two people on an extended stay and the bathroom was not roomy. Good aircon and good cleanliness. A basic breakfast was available and provided an opportunity to chat to the incredibly friendly staff and other guests. I loved the intimate feel of the hotel and at the great price I will definitely return.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 26 which was at back of hotel so no street noise but no outside window . Fine for t...

We stayed here during the second leg of a trip to Malaga and were impressed by the clean room, the four poster bed in which we spent some time, and the friendly staff who were able to sell us a bottle of water in a desperate hour of need. The white decor was impressive, as was our balcony which looked out over a quaint street in Malaga and a wedding shop which gave us much inspiration.

Less impressive was the en suite bathroom which frankly stank of sewage after we had been in the room for a day and made one of us violently sick (which ironically meant a trip to the smelly bathroom). We were also intimidated by the barking of a large dog on the first floor which left us worried we would be savaged in the night by an angry canine!

Recommended if you check you bathroom first and are not scared of big dogs.

Room Tip: Check the bathroom first!
