“Noisy construction, no water, and rude service”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

We stayed in this hotel because it was located not too far from the city centre. But it was a mistake. First, this hotel is in full construction mode so you have loud drilling noises starting at 8am in the morning. We could hardly have a normal conversation during breakfast. We were not advised about this when we made the booking. Also, the staff does not even try to help customers with this inconvenience. Instead, they insults you that you complain. We even did not have water one night and this was just considered "normal". On the second last day, the receptionist promised us that we could check out at 2pm the last day since our flight was going to be quite late. But on the day of departure, we were all of a sudden told - again in a very rude way - that we had to check out earlier. So unreliable, not customer-friendly at all, and if you also consider the rooms, breakfast etc. this is definitely not more than a 2-start hotel.

Booked double room for single use. A/C, TV, balcony and wifi working perfectly well inside room. Staff was nice and room was clean and confortable. Hot shower in bath and facilities in perfect condition. Breakfast had diferent choices and I found it perfect for me. Location is very good, just 5 minute walk to city centre and 15 min walk to train and high-speed train station. On the overall the ratio quality-price was very good.

Firstly the hotel is tired, shabby and dated. On a more positive note - it's also pretty clean and the staff are friendly. It was probably last refurbished to commemorate the death of General Franco in 1975 - perhaps earlier. It will soon be trendy again no doubt. However, I can tolerate all that - and so could most people. What is slightly harder to tolerate is the fact that the street below our room was a party venue until 7am!!! the noise was incredible - the revellers appeared to be local trash who lived in the seedy area that the hotels sits in. Unemployment is high in Spain and this is probably why they can sit outside drinking cheap booze on schooldays! We did, request a quiet room too! If I was advising my biggest enemy where to spend the night in Malaga - it would be here. It's up to you dear reader - you can take a chance and risk it - or book somewhere else. We have our usual hotel in Malaga, but it was full this time - hence staying in this hell hole. Total unmitigated disaster.

Nice clean hotel with good sized rooms and modern furniture plus a lovely bathroom with nice bright lights! Breakfast was buffet style and very nice with fresh food, only warm food was boiled eggs (warm if you got them at 07.30) plenty of meat and cheese and nice bread rolls and bread for toast plus yoghurts and fresh fruit etc. Good central position for Malaga with an easy walk to the Port area, little further to walk to the beach. Plenty of buses to get you around at a cost of 1 euro 30 cents per trip. Open deck tour buses are 21 euro hop on hop off per day. The only negatives with this hotel was it was very hot in the rooms and no air conditioning was turned on. I asked about it and was just told it was not possible to have it at this time. It could be a bit noisy in the street at night with the road sweepers and bins emptied in the early hours also thin adjoining walls but overall very nice. There is a lounge area which was nice and a bar but we didn't see the bar open at all - maybe they wait until the middle of summer.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends & family- it's in a great location, close to the city centre, the beach & the Marina. The hotel is quite basic but it's very clean & the staff are friendly & helpful. I had a problem with the sliding doors in my hotel room as they did not lock properly & this problem was resolved very quickly. The only disappointment was there was no fridge in the room so couldn't have a nice cold beer in the room!

From Malaga Airport it only takes 10 minutes by train & only 5 mins walk to the hotel. The train fare is very cheap too!

Really Good value hotel in the centre of Malaga and very close to the local bus station (2 minute walk) which is why i booked this hotel, got a brilliant deal from the hotels own website (Sercotel) they are a large Spanish Chain, I got 10% discount for using the internet with free late check out and an extra 5% for signing up to their email, so a room for three, inclcuding buffet breakfast was only £55.
Room was a bit of a squeeze withthe three beds, but the bathroom was huge ans seperate from the main room by a door and corridor.
The room was clean and the beds really comfortable and the room had a balcony. The room must have been well sound roofed because there were seberal families with small children staying on the same floor, but we didnt hear a thing, I didnt need my trusty earplugs at all.
Very convenient to find lots of restaurants and tapas bars nearby. i love Malaga, its stylish but friendly.
The hotel is close to the tourist bus, which is good, but expensive at 18 euros each, look on the malaga transport website the number 35 bus will get you up the hill to the castke for about 1.30 euros.
Breakfast was Buffet style, good choice and plenty of it. The only downside was the stairs down to the restaurant might cause a problem for people with mobility problems

Room Tip: the higher floors may have better views and get the sun
