Stayed here with a friend for 12 nights in March. Excellent location, clean, modern, safe and with great free wifi. One block from city historic center, restarants close, beach 5 minutes away. Daily housekeeping was efficient. Had 2 individual beds, desk, closet space with lots of drawers, one chair and a night stand. Small room but with eveything. Bathtub, shower hose, sink with small shelf and bidet in the bathrom.

As others have noted the location is probably the strongest point with this hotel with all of the main attractions within easy walking distance. Otherwise it is clean, the heating was working in late March, room size was adequate and front desk efficient. However it is rather characterless.

We used it for our final night after a car tour of Andalucia because of its access to City centre and the airport. It lies just off the Av. Andalucia which is an easy route both in from the N340 etc and the road out to the airport. Advanced directional signing off the Avenida was clear. Basement parking is 13.50 euros per night which is a little steep but finding on-street space would be a nightmare, made worse by some nearby streets being closed for temporary works.
There are several nearby cafes open for breakfast. If you fancy a change from chorizo and cava there is a russian grocery about 100m to right from the front door.
Main criticism was that some rooms only have windows opening onto internal light shaft and you need to keep curtains drawn for privacy. There could be a problem with noise in summer if the windows are open. We didn't test aircon.
That aside we would recommend this as a city centre hotel and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Try asking for one facing street to avoid the light shaft in summer.

Stayed for 2 nights - great base for visiting the heart of Malaga. Fair sized double room on the 1st floor with the usual fittings, looking into a courtyard. Good heating. Clean and very good value at 45€. Helpful and friendly staff. If arriving from the airport - take the metro train to the Centro and then Trinidad its just over the river, its then a few hundred metres to the hotel to drag your bags.

Room Tip: 1st floor indoor courtyard was nice and quiet and not too small - matrimonial bed.

We booked this hotel as a place to stay during the last night of our trip before we flew back to London. We wanted a basic, decent, clean, low cost hotel with good service and that is exactly what we got. It is a beautiful decorated and spotless hotel for a very decent price. the added benefit was that it was very central and we could walk to all of the venues we wanted to visit. The front desk was very helpful and professional. No hassles. Ideal for people who want a safe, well serviced room for a stay where one would not spend a lot of time in the hotel.

There is not a lot to fault Hotel Sur for, it is in a perfect location for exploring the sites, it is clean and very reasonably priced. Parking is available and is not too expensive for a big city and although breakfast is not available, it is just across from the entrance.
My only gripe was, the pillows were pathetic, but that is the norm in most Spanish hotels, and the room was a little on the chilly side.

Hotel Sur is centrally situated in the old part of Malaga within easy walking distances of the Cathedral, Picasso museum, Alcazaba and theatre. It is clean and warm and our room was well laid out. We were staying on a room only basis but there is an excellent cafe directly across the road where we got breakfast (orange juice, coffee and pastry of our choice) at under four euros. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and I am happy to recommend it.

Room Tip: The recycling bins are emptied during the night and this is a very noisy process! Ask for a room at...
