“Perfect peace”
Reviewed 20 April 2005

We spent two nights at the cortijo, completing a six day trip to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arrival-all stresses melted away-an oasis of peace with wonderful views of pine clad hills and mountains, quiet corners and terraces everywhere and English speaking reception staff. The room was chosen well by the hotel as we had telephoned them to say we needed wheelchair access and though the bathroom had an over bath shower it was spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed as was the bedroom. The sevice could be considered somewhat 'leisurely'- however in the restaurant it was the opposite. We had the very best of attention and although speaking Spanish helped enormously I think they are generally a very professional staff who will do what they can to facilitate matters. A taxi down the hairpin bends to the city costs about 15-20 euros but this is far better than attempting to negotiate Malaga's streets and parking problems.Would love to go back for another short stay to completely unwind-a lovely place for a short stay.

This gem of a hotel is situated 12 kilometers from Malaga’s city center, therefore anyone considering staying here must have a car. I was somewhat worried, after having consulted the reviews posted on TripAdvisor that arriving to this hotel would be a nightmare, but it is very easy to find. All you need to know is that Cortija de La Reina is located on road N331 - the old highway that took travelers to Madrid. Once on N331, signs clearly mark the way to the hotel entrance. Our journey from Cortija de La Reina to town took no more than 20 minutes of driving through magnificent panoramas of Malaga. The hotel itself is luxurious - without being haughty - and the staff is incredibly amiable and accommodating. The main building houses many comfortable living spaces where guests can quietly read or socialize. The room we stayed in was tastefully decorated, with wonderful beds and linen. The bathroom was tiled with gray marble, and had a huge window facing the hills. Breakfast is served every morning and guests can dine in the hotel’s elegant restaurant. I can't wait to visit again.

We stayed last February for one night and wish we could have had more time. Our room was warm and inviting with a wonderful roaring fire place and very comfortable king size bed. Our kids enjoyed exploring all over the grounds. Service was excellent with the staff quite accomodating and the food in the restaurant superb. We especially appreciated their beginning the breakfast buffet earlier than scheduled in light of our need to leave early for Morocco.

It is a bit out of the way in the hills so it feels like a mountain retreat. Their directions were perfect, but you do have to pay attention. It is not inexpensive, but you get your money's worth.

This 4 star hotel is situated in the mountains above Malaga. The location and facilities are excellent. It is extremely difficult to find, and contrary to all directions given - it is actually easier to get to if you go through the centre of Malaga! Not a hotel for more than a couple of days unless you like pool life and total isolation. The hotel was virtually empty when we stayed in late June. Brilliant place for a final chill-out just before you catch the plane back! The restaurant is "nouvelle" and salty!, but the fish is good and the Iberian beef is excellent.
