What a wonderful museum! A superb selection of Picasso's works, beautifully hung. An unexpected bonus easily missed are the archaeological remains of Phoenician and Roman Malaga on the lower level - amazingly well preserved and sensitively displayed. The courtyards (one is a lovely café) are a delight: they have the most simple but elegant display of flowers and plants. Visitors are expected to turn off mobile phones while in the museum - only to find the security staff in the galleries glued to the screen of their iPad ... hilarious, if troubling!

It was definitely not somewhere I would take kids. I'm not a huge fan, but I thought to myself that I simply had to see this museum. I thought wrong. Went through it in about 45 minutes and was frankly bored most of the time.

Apparently Picasso left Malaga when he was 19 and never went back there despite living to a ripe old age. This museum of his work certainly would not have attracted him back.
I suppose if you are a fan of Picasso's work you might enjoy it but for me it only confirmed the negative perception I already had of him.
You have to read the description/title of virtually all the pictures on show to identify what they are supposed to represent. With other "great" artists that usually isn't necessary as their pictures speak for themselves. Having to be told what a picture is all about left me feeling patronised and mildly insulted.

It was very interesting to see some of Picasso's early works. The setting is really nice. It's well worth a visit.
