Owner description: The Cemetery, situated in the heart of the city of Malaga is the last resting place of many notable figures from the English, Spanish and Foreign Communities settled in or visiting Andalucia and particularly the Costa del Sol. The burials that have taken place over the years provide a unique historical record of the British and other Protestant Christian communities who have resided on the Costa del Sol since 1831.

Recommended here by a friend and it was worth finding. Interesting history, very poignant children's graves and just a really nice peaceful wander. They're doing their best with the upkeep relying on donations so if you go please give something however small or this little gem will be lost.

Lovely, unspoiled cemetery situated off the main road in the east section of the city. There's not much to see if you're looking for famous graves but there are beautiful shrubs, a meandering walk up a hill from where you get great views of the city and a general sense of peace.

Cementerio Ingles de Malaga is a cemetery, located at the heart of Malaga city and is a notable last resting place for many important individuals from the English, Spanish and other foreign nation. Due to the people buried here, this cemetery has become an important attraction especially among the history lovers. The cemetery setting is extremely beautiful and stories these graves tale range from romantic, heroic to sad histories. Being the first cemetery to be allowed to bury non Catholics, this English graveyard has a truly remarkable history. This chapel in the back yard is very interesting and there is a little book you can buy at the entrance describing the stories of those buried there.

What can a bunch of English graves tell you about the history of a Spanish town? Well, a lot more than you would think!
Absolutely beautiful spot in the historic centre of Malaga, a place to rest, think and learn about historic events. Sad, romantic or heroic histoires all lay here waiting to be remembered. A must visit and please donate when you do so, the place needs all the donations it can get...

The English Cemetery is quite interesting because it was the first cemetery in Spain that was created to bury non-Catholics. There are many famous non-Catholics who were buried here. Before the cemetery was approved by the authorities, non-Catholics had to be buried on the beach, which was not a good place to be buried because the sea would uncover the grave, as well as dogs. It is quite interesting to see the gravestones in this cemetery. The little store at the entrance has many good books and souvenirs.
