Hotel is in the city centre area, on a busy side road near the market, on the edge of the extensive traffic-free shopping zone. Very convenient for a walk round town. Restaurant was closed, but wide choice nearby. Breakfasts were fine - choice of hot and cold. We had a room at the front - very noisy until late at night - then the market started early morning. Car parking a couple of minutes walk away - E23 a day. Would go again - but insist on a room at the back (or use earplugs !) Overall good value for money (even taking parking cost into account)

Room Tip: Rooms at the front very noisy

We stayed for two nights over the New Year period, the room was fairly small and dark, with our view looking out onto a back street / bin area, this was disappointing as upon booking we had been advised we would get a front-facing room, we asked if we could change the room but advised that the hotel was fully booked. The room was very clean though and the bed was great. We made use of the free WIFI and we were given Malaga wine and use of bathrobes/slippers as part of our stay, which was nice. The reception staff were friendly and accommodating during the stay.

The location is near the centre - ish. However, having stayed in better located hotels within Malaga previously we found the location was not as good as previous reviews have suggested. As typical of Malaga, you do have to pay for parking costing on average 22€ per day, we parked in one of the underground car parks which was a 5 or so minute walk from the hotel, we received a small discount from the parking from the hotel booking.

Malaga itself is a great and normally buzzing city, however unfortunately we did not enjoy spending NYE in Malaga as due to local holiday custom - the bars and city centre close down early (5pm) on New Years eve, next to nothing open at all in the run up to midnight?!. We went to the main square and saw the New Year in with a hundred or so others, but there was no atmosphere. Having said that, the city lights and decor hanging from the buildings were beautiful.

We will definitely return to Malaga for a weekend break on a 'normal weekend' in the future, as it's a brilliant city, but will not be back for New Year again. In terms of the Atarazanas it is unlikely we would return, nice enough hotel but overall just a bit let down by value (price for the size/style of room, amenities and location did not live up to expectations)

The Atarazanas Boutique Hotel is a great hotel located near the old centre and the port of Malaga. The hotel is also very easy to reach by car and has a parking nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Opposite the hotel is a cosy indoor foodmarket.

No restaurant, no concierge, no portering, no parking, no residents lounge, no space! This is a small (cramped?) simple but amiable place, situated quite well for the old town. It has to 'make-do' in so many areas due to lack of space and facilities. Calling it 'boutique doesnt forgive it, and suggest some extra characters and pleasantries - which it doesnt have. If you want a rather bare, basic but adequate no-frills place to sleep and have breakfast (decent enough but also very plain) then this is OK.

Room Tip: Internal rooms may be overlooked by a corridor, external room suffer street noise.

We have overnighted here on several occasions before going to Maria Zambrano station to get the train to the airport for a morning flight. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and all the interesting places to eat and visit in the old part of city are within easy walking distance. We always have a room at the back which is quieter but you have to expect some noise in this location as it is a very buzzy area!. There is a wonderful recently restored covered market just across the road which is worth a look around.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the price at under 60 euros for a double with breakfast is terrific value for money.

Room Tip: ask for 109 or 108 Not the largest but at the back and you don't have to use the lift if you a...

The hotel overall was lovely. Very clean rooms, good size (not too squished) - I stayed here before moving into my flat so I had a lot of luggage (6 months worth) and I wasn't falling over it. The location was fantastic for nearby restaurants, bars, shops, sightseeing etc... only 5 min walk to the cathedral, 10 to the port area. Didn't have the breakfast but it looked plentiful... the bar never seemed to be open but there were plenty nearby. Cheap supermarket next door for water/snacks etc. Staff on reception helpful although unsure how much english they spoke. The main problem was we were in a room at the back of the hotel and the noise of the motorbike/moped mark was ridiculous. Spain is know for it's nightlife & Malaga's is amazing... just not when you're trying to sleep at 3am... whether other hotels are better for this I don't know, I guess noise is the price you pay for being in the centre. Overall a lovely Hotel and I'd happily stay again.

My husband and I stayed at Atarazanas for 2 nights by the end of 2012. The location is really perfect. Breakfast was good, and staff were very kind. On the other hand, our room faced the street so we were woken up by morning street noise. Another problem was that windows did not have proper insulation so we had wind inside the room which could be pleasant in hot summer nights but it was annoying in cold December. Bathroom deserved modernization. All this just make me believe that Atarazanas could not be categorized as a boutique hotel, but room price was fair and we had an overall nice experience.
