Althuogh we had stayed in central malaga, we booked dinner at the restauranton the night of the st Juan festival and spain v portugal match. The atmosphere was fantastic as was the food and classical flamingo demonstration. We would certainly return to this superb restaurant and the view of the city below were fantastic

Like many others we selected Villa Guadalupe by trip advisor, when we tried to book we were initially told the hotel was full - oh well never mind! within an hour we had a call from the hotel to say if we were happy to be 50 mtrs away, they could offer us an apartment for the same price! Even befrore we arrived at the hotel we were being given great service. The trip up to the hotel was adventurous, the number of new roads and road works gave our tomtom a challenge, but it was absooulutely worth it.
Lunch was lovely and accompanied by a very realistically priced bottle of wine, and just served to make us more excited about the evening.
We spent the afternoon sitting by the pool and raving about the wonderful views, a saltwater pool was a nice surprise. no beach, but at least swimming in the sea.
Dinner was simply amazing, although the chef offers a degustation menu we decided to share a starter and fish course (wonderful turbot) then my wife had fantastic Duck and I had Pork with a fantastic sauce, both were amazing. The choice of sorbets was great, we had a cosmopolitan and and a Gin and tonic both were superb. All of this whilst watch the glittering lights of malaga below us. The evening finished off with a night cap on our terrace.
This is probably not somewhere you would stay for a week (not unless you ran up and down the hills all day!) but for a short break to chill out and eat great food, it is difficult to beat.
Breakfast the following day was fine, but to be honest after the previous evening's meal, all we needed was fruit!
Take some time to look at th fantastic paintings all around the hotel.
Try it, you wont be dissapointed, if you are, please let me know I want to go where you go!!

Room Tip: Views are amazing, wish I had seen the hotel rooms, try to book a table close to the window, though...

My husband, daughter and I stayed 3 nights while visiting Malaga and really enjoyed the hotel. After reading great reviews on Trip Advisor, I felt confident in making the booking. In a nutshell, the property is beautiful, high on a hill overlooking the city - beautiful nighttime views. The restaurant is very good - great chef and view from the dining room. Rooms are not fancy but adequate. I thought the bed was quite hard but found that to be the case at every spanish hotel we visited. Otherwise a comfortable, quiet accomodation. The staff was very helpful and there are English speakers. The breakfast is pricey for what you get but so convenient that we found ourselves in the dining room each morning. The mosaics are beautiful and a great artistic touch that adds interest to the property. I recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't mind driving about 10 minutes to the city center and navigating narrow, winding and very steep hills. We thought it was worth it and enjoyed being off the beaten path. Overall this is a great stay with nice people on a lovely spot high above the city of Malaga. We will stay there again when visiting Malaga.

A very beautiful neighbourhood with houses all come with colourful gardens which are full of flowers. For those who like to walk, to walk from the hotel to the main road is 20 minutes. With the sun and breeze and interesting design of houses and their gardens, it is an enjoyable and pleasant walk.

Rooms with balcony has sun bath chairs and tables and chairs which you can stay and enjoy the 180 degrees city and sea view. The night view is particularly gorgeous.

Do spend time at the restaurant to enjoy the view and food!

Room with a superb view, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent meal, wished we had booked for more than 1 night, would love to go back for a long weekend break, thoroughly recommended. The artwork on the walls of our room and throughout the hotel was very good.

We booked this hotel for our recent trip to Andalusia, which was starting in Malaga. We were positively impressed by all the good reviews on TripAdvisor and wanted a smaller hotel outside the center, so we chose this one.
Upon arrival at the hotel, our room was ready but there was a small flood in the bathroom. We had to call the reception, who came very quickly to clean up the water that was on the floor since probably several hours because the wood furniture legs were soaked. They had no idea where it came from (not very reassuring - but we did not see anymore water on the bathroom floor for the rest of our stay - 3 nights in total). There was no internet cable available for us upon check-in, but one hour after we had arrived, the receptionist brought us one. The internet connection wasn't very good throughout our stay.
The morning after (we had arrived when it was dark already), we saw that the room we booked with terrace/balcony only had a small terrace on the side with no view at all on Malaga. There was a view on overgrown plants and some rocks. Also, the room we had was quite small and you could hear people in rooms above / next to us. Fortunately, I think the hotel was not too full so we did not have noise disturbance at night.
The magnetic card to open our door alo got demagnetized one day and when we returned to the hotel, ask the receptionist to reprogram it (happens to me once in a while when I travel for business and hotel staff are familiar with this kind of problems, they just reprogram it for you right away). He did not understand when I explained the issue and had to come with us to our room door, left and made us wait without saying anything, then returned with the card which worked again.
The bed was not very comfortable and the lack of proper pillow did not help. We asked for pillows the day after in the evening and it took the person on duty that evening at least 15 minutes to bring us back two long flat cushions, not really square fluffy pillows.
Breakfast was ok but nothing special, no fresh orange juice (in Spain!) and not much choice at the small buffet (fruits were always too ripe - bananas all black - or not ripe at all - kiwis). We had dinner at the restaurant of the hotel one evening. Food was good but nothing exceptional again. There was only one other table of 2 persons dining that evening and the service was very poor. My husband never got his drink with his meal! The waiter was never around if we needed to ask something.
So all in all, we were quite disappointed with our stay and the quality of the hotel, staff, service, etc. I would consider this a 3 star standard hotel but nothing more. Obviously there is potential given the location, the nice villa house, etc but we were really not feeling particularly welcome, which is what you usually look for in a small boutique type of hotel. Wouldn't recommend the place.
