“Perfect hotel near station”
Reviewed 13 March 2009

This hotel is unbelievable, beating all others I've stayed in.

This hotel is under 5 minutes from the train station so location is great. When you check in you are transported to a cool and classy world where your every need is met by friendly staff (male receptionists both helpful and cute, a good combination). The rooms are large, and the best equipped I've stayed in, in Spain at least. The bathrooms are modern with a big box of toiletries whilst the bed was of a size that was unbeatable. The room is a real retreat from the heat and dust outside, with fully stocked minibar and full complement of glassware. A nice touch was the sweets left in the room and in all public spaces.

You do have a 10-15 minute walk (depending on whether you have high heels on!) into the town centre, but its worth it. Once in centre, you have a great range of things to do and places to eat. Don't miss the alcazar, its peaceful, has great views and much more photogenic than the castle on top of the hill.

The hotel was easy to find - next to the railway station and a cheap trip from the airport. Unfortunately we picked the worst time to visit - it rained non stop for 2 days - this still did not stop us enjoying our five day trip. Location next to the railway station is ideal for day trips to other parts of the coast. There was a lack of eating places in the area (unless you want fast food in the station) but a short walk into the center soon solved that. The Belgian tapas bar next to the Picasso house was a bargain at lunch time for authentic food at good prices and a good place to watch the world go by on the only day of sun we experienced - the weather was not typical and the locals were complaining (we had snow at home). Supermarket next door was an added bonus. The breakfast was one of the best we have every had and catered to all tasts with hot and cold buffet - enough to keep you going for the rest of the day (fear not if you are on a diet - they even had a diet menu!!). Staff were helpful and friendly.

Great location for both bus and train stations (about 5 minute walk). We stayed for one night before an early flight in a Comfort room which was very spacious and modern with a lovely huge bed! Bathroom was well equipped with toiletries and hairdryer. Happened to get a good deal on the hotel's own website for dinner + room which was very good value. Smooth check-in and check-out. Guests can freely use the sauna and jacuzzi which were fantastic.

We have just come back for a few days at the Hotal Silken Puerta in Malaga. Booked through Expedia we paid £240 for 5 nights and must say that it was worth every penny. The Hotel was immaculate, friendly and so convennient for travel to other parts of Spain. We went to Malaga for one reason - to see the sunshine - and we saw it. The weather was beautiful. We used public transport to go to Nerja by bus (6 euros round trip) and Cordoba by train (32 euros round trip) fast, clean and punctual. The hotel was literally across the road from the railway station and bus station. We enjoyed a day on the roof terrrace in the hot tub and jacuzzi sunbathing. We would recommend this hotel.

This hotel was excellent for our purposes, very clean, very good value and very near the train station so it was simple to travel along the coast. We didn't find it any problem not being right in the centre of Malaga, as you can walk into town, get a cab for about 4 euro or lots of buses, including night buses for 1 euro right outside the hotel. The bed was HUGE, good bathroom, clean towels and clean room every day. The spa was lovely. Didn't eat in the hotel but tapas in the 'cafeteria' looked really nice . Friendly staff. Only criticism is the Bloody Mary's weren't up to much and no tea/coffee in the room. Otherwise absolutely lovely.

The hotel was in a good location near the train and bus station, and on the bus route into the old town for just 1 Euro. The hotel was lovely; the rooms were a good size and nicely decorated, as was the rest of the hotel, all very clean and tidy. The bathrooms were very clean with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The breakfast buffet was very good with a large choice of food, hot and cold. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it.

The hotel was much further from the center of Malaga than we expected. Some sites said it was a 10 minute walk, this is definitely not true. It was at least 30mins (and we are quite fit) across busy roads. For that reason only, we wouldnt stay there again as we constantly used taxis to get to and from the main area. That said, there were 2 shopping centers quite close to the hotel, and the train station was very close too. The beach was about a 40minute walk away but the front was quite underdeveloped without the usual seafront cafes and restaurants that youd expect. I think Malaga has a while to go yet before its accepted as anything more than an airport town.

  • Liked — Clean, Nice Staff, Great Bathroom and freebies, nice buffet breakfast.
  • Disliked — Much, Much, too far from nightlife and beach!
