My husband and I stayed in this hotel in September for 5 days .After reading the reviews we emailed asking for a room on a top floor. We were given a room on the 11 th floor .
I loved the location ,it was very close to town and the marina was opposite, with lots of shops and restaurants .We liked the Mexican and Indian restaurant you could swap around ,Indian starter Mexican main or whatever ,food was great .
The beach was minutes away also
The breakfast in the hotel was very good ,hot food included fried eggs ,and if you wanted ,you could even have a glass of bubbly .
We were happy with room .great views ,could still here the traffic below ,but it didn't bother us .
The staff were very helpful when we were asking directions to bus station .we took a bus to Marbella for the day .It was only about 45- 50 minutes on express bus and outside bus station in Marbella another bus took us into centre of town .
We loved Malaga ,the tapas bars ,a glass of Rioja was usually €2.50 We visited all of the museums and the cathedral, lovely old town to walk around in .

Room Tip: Great views on top floor

The hotel is of 70s vintage, on a noisy road at the front and a bullring at the back. Rooms are good, but I asked for a quiet room and the receptionist obliged by giving us a room on the10th floor facing the bullring. It was quiet - but these rooms are all smoking rooms, and if you don't like stale cigarette smoke, it's not great.

The hotel is only a 10 minutewalk from the historical centre of town and has the comforts expected of a 4 star property (though I found the pillows uncomfortable), but next time around I would rather stay in the centre of town - it's quieter and has classier hotels.

Service was very good.

Room Tip: Room facing the back are quieter. If they have non-smoking rooms on that side, take it!

Just returned from a 4 night holiday at this hotel. The location is excellent for the old town , the beach and all the restaurants at the Marina. The last stop on the airport bus is within a 100 yards of the hotel and costs 3 euros. The hotel and the staff are first class and the breakfast choice is excellent with a choice of hot food and cold meats. There are 2 small supermarkets nearby. The bus for Torremolinos and Benalmadena is only a 10 minute walk along the Harbour side and only costs 1.60 euros. The castle and alcazarba are nearby and the old town is a 10-15 minute walk away. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return in the future.

We have just returned from a five nights' stay at the Maestranza hotel in Malaga and found it exceptional. The hotel location could not be more perfect: five minutes walk to the Malagueta beach, five minutes to the port marina with its myriad restaurants, cafes and shops, ten minutes to the old town, opposite the airport bus terminus. As advised we had emailed the hotel in advance to request a room on a high floor and got one of the best rooms front facing on the 10th floor (room 1005) with a large balcony and breathtaking views over the Moorish Alcazaba, the Castillo de Gibralfara, Malaga's Cathedral, bullring and the marina ). The view was particularly spectacular at night with all the monuments lit up. The only negative point was the constant traffic noise which you could still hear despite the double glazing although we got used to it after a couple of days.
Hotel staff are very courteous and helpful and contributed to a lovely stay. We had paid extra to have breakfast included and did not regret it as we got a wide choice of good quality breakfast items as well as very good coffee.
All in all everything was perfect about the hotel and we will certainly stay there again when we go back to Malaga.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor (10 to 12). Front facing corner rooms (room numbers ending in 05 an 0...

Stayed for two nights at this hotel with 5 friends. Easy journey by bus from the airport with regular services in both directions. Hotel is ideally located for first visit to Malaga with beach walks on one side, port on the other and only a very short walk to the centre for bars, shops and food. Hotel has great facilities and roof top sun deck with decent views of the City, training room and jacuzzi too!

Room Tip: I had balcony overlooking the bull ring

Everything about this hotel was great. It's rare to find the comfort and amenities of an American chain hotel in a European hotel. I confirm that the hotel staff are all friendly and helpful. We got our room when we arrived at 11am even though check in is not till afternoon. The room on the 6th floor was clean, air conditioned, well-lit, trimmed with marble and mirrors. Big balcony, 2 windows (very soundproof and with light blocking curtains) with view on bull ring and Gibralfaro castle. The bed was two twins stuck together, but very comfortable. There was a SAFE (very important and not so common), minibar with reasonable prices. The bathroom was spacious and pretty spotless, with a bidet which gives a touch of old school luxury. It had blow dryer and even a magnifying mirror. These are rare details that I do not find in most hotels here for this price.

the roof of the hotel has a sauna, jacuzzi and hammam, all of which we enjoyed both nights. I also got a massage, and the masseuse was again friendly, competent, and clearly proud of her work (she happily described which essential oils she picked etc.)

Location-wise the hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Malagueta beach and 15 minutes walk to the pier shops/restaurants or the town center. We also appreciated that it was 5 minutes walk to the start of the walk up the Gibralfaro. There is a bus to the airport at the roundabout where the hotel is, this bus costs 3€ per person and has free wifi. Amazing.

Great job Maestranza! I would happily stay there next time I visit Malaga.

Room Tip: Higher floor = less traffic noise and better views.
