“Super hotel in ideal location”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

We have just returned from a four day trip to Malaga and really enjoyed our stay at the Ms Maestranza. The hotel is in an ideal location, close to beach,,marina and old town. The views from the roof are stunning. Also very handy is the airport bus that stops across the road and only costs 3euro. We had a room on a higher level floor and could see both the marina and beach. It was only a ten minute pleasant stroll to the old town, but there were lovely restaurants and bars in the marina area. Would definitely reccomend this hotel for value for money in lovely sunny Malaga!

Room Tip: Pick a higher level room

Very good value. Brilliant location to port, beach, bullfighting, very pleasant walk to shopping area. Roof top jacuzzi and loungers small but very pleasant. Good view up top. Typical city small lobby, lifts but rooms very good, air cond. staff all friendly and helpful. We spent three days in Malaga for birthday. Public Bus to hotel from airport.

Room Tip: Ask for high room

Just returned after 5 days in MS Maestranza. The view from the room 906 was fantastic. We only had Sky News to watched as an English Channel Too bad the TV did not have a USB port as we could have watched films from our pendrive. (I would have given 5 stars if it had.) The cafe down below was brilliant We had tea ,coffee 2 crossiants and freshly squeezed orange juice for 8 euros. The marina is great with many shops and restaurants. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Room Tip: 906 was brilliant for views of everything

We stayed at hotel MS Maestranza Malaga for 3 nights / 4 days.
We caught the train from the airport to Malaga Central station (which is €1.70) and then we caught a taxi to the hotel which was €5.00 (as we were unsure how far the hotel was) however it’s actually only about a 15min walk away.
There was a large queue to check-in (which was about 12:30pm) and it appeared the two staff on reception at the time were quite disorganised, We had booked a deluxe Superior room however after checking-in and opening the door to our room (on the 11th floor) we knew this wasn’t what we’d paid for, it was small and pokey, the man in reception was clearly farming rooms off regardless as to peoples reservations, we did complain and was given the correct room on the 3rd floor, however this really annoyed me, i travel all over the world and this hotel is the only one that has done this with me.
The correct room we were given (on the 3rd floor) was large and very clean as too was the bathroom which also came with loads of complimentary toiletries, the TV channels didn’t have what was advertised though, the only English speaking channel was Sky News, which would have been fine if the picture quality was watchable, but it wasn’t, 4 times we turned on the TV over the duration and each time the picture wasn’t watchable (the Spanish stations were OK though). There was an espresso machine in the room with x2 saucers but only one cup... there was ample room in the wardrobe which also contained a large safe.
The Wi-Fi in the room is free, however it’s slow and not fast enough to steam TV and cut out quite frequently.
The room was cleaned everyday and to a high standard.
The hotel is situated just off the marina (which is about 5 minute walk away), also in the opposite direction (also a 5 minute walk away) is the beach / promenade area. The Hotel is about 10mins walk into the town of Malaga making the hotel perfectly located for everything (shops, restaurants, bars, sightseeing, beach).
We didn’t have breakfast included in the room, so I’m unable to review the breakfast.
I would recommend this hotel for its location, but the bad experience during / after check-in and the TV / WI-FI etc... has made me not want to return here as i thought it was very cheeky and dishonest of them.

Room Tip: Room 301 was my room - i would recommend this room.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel in September for 5 days .After reading the reviews we emailed asking for a room on a top floor. We were given a room on the 11 th floor .
I loved the location ,it was very close to town and the marina was opposite, with lots of shops and restaurants .We liked the Mexican and Indian restaurant you could swap around ,Indian starter Mexican main or whatever ,food was great .
The beach was minutes away also
The breakfast in the hotel was very good ,hot food included fried eggs ,and if you wanted ,you could even have a glass of bubbly .
We were happy with room .great views ,could still here the traffic below ,but it didn't bother us .
The staff were very helpful when we were asking directions to bus station .we took a bus to Marbella for the day .It was only about 45- 50 minutes on express bus and outside bus station in Marbella another bus took us into centre of town .
We loved Malaga ,the tapas bars ,a glass of Rioja was usually €2.50 We visited all of the museums and the cathedral, lovely old town to walk around in .

Room Tip: Great views on top floor

The hotel is of 70s vintage, on a noisy road at the front and a bullring at the back. Rooms are good, but I asked for a quiet room and the receptionist obliged by giving us a room on the10th floor facing the bullring. It was quiet - but these rooms are all smoking rooms, and if you don't like stale cigarette smoke, it's not great.

The hotel is only a 10 minutewalk from the historical centre of town and has the comforts expected of a 4 star property (though I found the pillows uncomfortable), but next time around I would rather stay in the centre of town - it's quieter and has classier hotels.

Service was very good.

Room Tip: Room facing the back are quieter. If they have non-smoking rooms on that side, take it!

Just returned from a 4 night holiday at this hotel. The location is excellent for the old town , the beach and all the restaurants at the Marina. The last stop on the airport bus is within a 100 yards of the hotel and costs 3 euros. The hotel and the staff are first class and the breakfast choice is excellent with a choice of hot food and cold meats. There are 2 small supermarkets nearby. The bus for Torremolinos and Benalmadena is only a 10 minute walk along the Harbour side and only costs 1.60 euros. The castle and alcazarba are nearby and the old town is a 10-15 minute walk away. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return in the future.
