I wandered into several hotels before I settled on the Molina Lario and I did so because the front desk staff could not have been more courteous. Thank you Xavier. The room was on the 5th floor, gorgeous, spotless, quiet, with a view of the Cathedral. Breakfast was varied, beautifully laid out and very appetising. Cocktails were great and top marks for the sandwiches! The rooftop pool area was small, comfortable and not too busy. The hotel is perfectly set in the historic centre with only minutes walk to the main sights of this really charming city. The airport bus stops just across the road. My only small gripe was the very tatty bathrobe delivered on request to my room.
What distinguishes this hotel from others is most definitely the service and attitude from all the staff, who, without exception, were friendly, attentive and good natured; reception, bar, restaurant, pool top, houskeeping... the Molina Lario staff could teach other hotels a thing or two.

Just got back from 5 nights at this hotel - and would endorse most comments. The location is perfect for Malaga - the desk was helpful and efficient. The rooms were clean and well kept and the breakfasts were reasonable quality and choice. The air-conditioning was excellent - and the overall infrastructure(lifts etc,) was good.Due to the heat the small rooftop pool was overwhelmed and the pool bar did not open until July.
However a worn and tired dressing gown with a hole in was slightly off-putting - and the lack of dressing table facility(long mirror by the door/toilet was not a substitute) meant that the bathroom had to be used once the shower was finished with and the steam had eased! My wife felt discomforted!

But nevertheless I would not hesitate to stay there again - and our experience was nevertheless a very enjoyable one!

Room Tip: Avoid an inward looking room if possible

We stayed in this hotel for three nights recently and it was very good. The situation was perfect for us,just off a busy street and around the corner from the pedestrianised streets. The side of the Famous Cathedral was no more than 70 meters away. The staff were warm and friendly throughout our stay.We could just see the top of a ship in the harbour. Our bedroom was of a very high standard and a real oasis from the heat and bussle of the city.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a view and got one with a side view of the Cathedral a glimpse of the harbo...

We loved it , but hard to get help at front desk b/c always full. I guess that is is very good. We were central to everything. Room was like boutique hotel, very comfortable, Food for breakfast was good but always the same , and quite a selection. Hotel central to all we needed. Never had trouble with noise, but forgot what floor we were on

We stayed here for one night pre cruise. Its location is excellent.

Our room was on a high floor as requested & was lovely. However, when we returned to the hotel early evening we realised our room overlooked the courtyard which is a chilled restaurant/ bar area ( I've also left a review for the restaurant where we had the 3 course set lunch (excellent)!. There was no music playing but was quite noisy just with people chatting! We asked to move to a quieter room which they did for us without any problem. Not so sure how easy this would be if the hotel was busier though so best be careful with choice of room!

The staff were very friendly.

The pool area is really nice but small so again not sure what the situation would be if the hotel was busy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street not the courtyard

Have just returned from celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and have had the most magical stay at the Molina Lario. Found other reviews very helpful and caught the bus to and from the airport for 2 euros, as hotel is perfectly located it is so easy to find when you get off the bus at the cathedral. On arrival had requested a room overlooking the street and we were informed that we had been automatically upgraded at no extra charge. Breakfast was amazing and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. If you want a hotel with a central location close to the beautiful old town then this is the place for you. We found Malaga to be really good value for money, had fantastic meal with drinks in the main square for 36 euros we thought they must have undercharged us but it wasnt a mistake!! Enjoyed sunbathing and waiter service drinks on the rooftop pool area and were only charged 4 euros for two drinks with complimentary savoury snacks. No need to bring any towels as they are provided at poolside. We enjoyed the evening sitting by the pool with the evening entertainment which was relaxed chill out and traditional spanish music it was beautiful. The hairdryer did not work in our room and once we notified the chambermaid a new one was immediately brought to our room. We hired bikes for 5 euros each and cycled through the new marina area and ate grilled sardines on the beachfront. My husband and I have visited a variety of european cities and thought that we would never find a place to beat Rome and whilst this is still true Malaga has come a very surprising second. All of the photos do not do this hotel justice as you will be very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the views are. It was also very useful to check in for our return flight online using the free internet and printing service which is provided in the library.

Room Tip: Higher rooms located on the street have better views of the cathedral and marina
