“Location, decoration and breakfast!”
Reviewed 27 July 2012

This is the best place to stay near the historic area. It's around the corner from the shopping street and airport bus stop, within walking distance to the beautiful Malaga Cathedral. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The breakfast (which was being offered for 50% off) was delicious, with an abundant assortment of fruit, cold meats and cheeses, hot items and dishes cooked to order. Cava was also included!

Service at the front desk and restaurant were both excellent. The pool is small but the deck area is pleasant.

Firstly this is a great hotel in many ways, our room (a deluxe room) was spacious, clean, well decorated and beautifully furnished. The wardrobe and space to store clothing was more than ample. The bathroom was a lovely size with the added benefit of a bath; bathrobes and slippers a nice touch.

The room was well maintained and the cleaning service was punctual and efficient. The tea/coffee making facilities were an added bonus which we made good use of.

The rooftop pool area may have been small, but was kept in good order. With a healthy supply of towels available. There was also the option to use the terrace on the 6th floor (putting green) to sunbathe. The one draw back about the pool area was the lack of availability to order drinks during the day.

At night the pool area doubled as a bar, which was popular and a nice retreat from the town. The patio area/courtyard was also a nice part of the hotel to chillout away from the crowds.

The only blight on our stay was the noise from the street level bars/restaurants. Our room was located on the 3rd floor and we could hear most if not everything that was going on below. So we were treated to the hullabaloo of Malaga nightlife, the aftermath and cleaning up period and then the extremely efficient and nightly waste collection.

Overall it was a great stay, as Malaga always is. The hotel was lovely and we had a good time there, apart from the noise and lack of sleep on occasion due to this.

Room Tip: As high up as possible, but may not be an option for the deluxe rooms

Not much more to add to all the positive reviews here. The hotel is a delight (booked on the basis of other reviews). Staff wonderful and attentive. Check in-out a breeze. Location perfect. We ate a light lunch and then decided on supper in the hotel restaurant - both meals excellent. Had pre-dinner drinks up on the pool deck, great views of the big tour boats. We'd booked two rooms, twin for the kids - they were happy. Queen size for us - there was a decanter of complimentary sherry (didn't try it, but nice thought) complimentary bottles of water, plenty of bits and bobs in the bathroom. Air con worked fine. Free wifi. Malaga's a delightful city would come back, when it's less hot, and would certainly stay at this hotel again.

We stayed at Molina Lario for one night before getting on a cruise ship. It's about 15-20 mins drive from the airport (Euros 20 in a taxi) and so close to the port you can see the ships as they come in. It's in a great location in a pedestrianised part of Malaga, very close to excellent shopping and cafes, and across the road from a very pretty park and promenade.

The hotel was clean and efficient, the bed comfy, the breakfast lovely. We did not eat lunch or dinner in the cafe because it was a bit too "posh" for our family needs, but cafes outside were easy to find.

The rooftop pool is smaller than you'd think from the hotel pix, but has nice terraces and lovely views of the harbour and cathedral.

We stayed in a family room which was basically a slightly bigger room than normal with two extra single beds in it - it was absolutely fine.

Spent three days with family and would recommend this hotel. The room was large and spotless, staff could not be friendlier. Pool and terrace were a great place to relax and cool off during the hot afternoons. Would definitely return.

After leaving Malaga, I was excited to be able to write this review of the Hotel Molina Lario.

What an amazing experience we had here. It made our experience with Malaga so wonderful. The staff was very good, the location was absolutely perfect, and the amenities and cleanliness was top notch.

We had a view of the sea, we were steps from the main shopping promenade, the cathedral, the beach, the Alcazar, and much more.

I don't see any reason this hotel is not the #1 in Malaga (currently #3). Add in the amazing prices to the great points I mentioned above and you get one awesome hotel.

If you are traveling to Malaga, stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea or Cathedral view.
