Bang on in the 4 star category: excellent location, quiet, with some downs to compensate. Breakfast is not great, with unsmiling service, which one can cope with, which is also quite careless: inverting or omitting the labels on juices and milk (e.g. soy vs skimmed milk), badly stored fruits (e.g. excellent quality cherries showing some mould marks), and so on. With many options outside, don't bother unless it is included in the price.

The shower leaked, but on the other hand there are other good services, e.g. if you are sharing your room you'll get two bathrobes and two sets of slippers. Toiletries are somewhat basic, but the rooms are good sized.

There is a swimming pool on the top terrace with amazing views of the city, though the pool itself is tiny and crowded, but it is nice for a drink.

The WIFI works pretty well, unlike at the AC Palacio opposite as I was told by colleagues staying there. Staff at reception are helpful and smiling.

We happened upon this hotel during Malaga's Annual Feria (Fiesta) in August. It is a perfect city centre base, close to the shops, the marina, the historic sights and about 10 minutes from the beach. It is boutique-style, if you enjoy the buzz of the city, ask for a room on the front of the hotel, courtyard side rooms can be a little noise. The buffet breakfast was great, even with a full hotel, there was no panic or queueing. The same in the bistro style restaurant in the evening. The staff are very helpful and courteous. There are several other small restaurants in the narrow streets near the hotel, all well priced with good local food. We would recommend visiting the nearly Cathedral and the Picasso homeplace and gallery.

Room Tip: Floors 2 or 3 looking on to the narrow side street (on the Cathedral side of the hotel), that have small balconies. Try to avoid the courtyard rooms.

We stayed at the Molina Lario for four nights in August. The city was very busy as it was Feria time. It was wonderful to leave the chaos and heat of the city streets and walk into the Hotel. Our room was beautifully calm and cool. We were not disturbed at all by noise from the street as other reviewers have mentioned. In fact I found myself opening the window to enjoy the buzz from the streets. The Hotel is in a great spot, right near all the main attractions. We enjoyed the rooftop bar most evenings - we managed to tuck ourselves away on the lower deck and enjoy the sun setting on the cathedral and the sounds of the city below. Helpful reception staff who lent us an travel adaptor as we had forgotten ours. Spotlessly clean. I would definitely stay there again.

I would stay here again only because of the location. You really can't beat it. And thankfully, I didn't spend too much time in the hotel since it wasn't so special. Clean, yes. Great views, yes. But worst service ever. When I asked for suggestions on where to wine and dine, they recommended the hotel restaurant - and provided no other suggestions. Additionally, they just watched me unload the car and drag my bags into the lobby - they didn't even get up to hold the door open. If they weren't located in such a prime spot, I would never recommend this hotel. However, the location made it worthwhile.

Awesome location for the Feria de Malaga, staff were very helpful, room was perhaps our favourite of the trip so far with an attic-style feel to it, and the balcony was excellent giving us a view of the cathedral. Breakfast was lovely, but would agree with other reviewers about the rooftop bar being a bit expensive and the pool is extremely small - during the day there is no bar service at the bar though, you have to phone down to room service to bring up drinks. Would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend others to do so as well.
