visited for 5 nights early october with my wife. The location is unbeatable in midst of interesting city. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Reception staff helpful. Had simply wonderful lunch in cafe bolsa the hotels own restaurant. Room was spacious well and equipped. We have stayed at posada del patio few months ago and would on balance say we preferred the molina lario

My traveling companion and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our trip and loved it so much we stayed for our last 3 nights also. This hotel is in the best possible location. You can walk just about everywhere, from the waterfront and port to the grand mall, Picasso museum, and hours of roaming the wonderful streets and sampling the bars and tapas. The staff and the desk manager could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely and the bathroom spectacular and fully equipped including robes, hairdryer and toiletries. This hotel was exceptionally clean. The food is fantastic with a great breakfast buffet. The outdoor cafe and evening bar are very cheerful and fun. The view from the pool deck on the roof is wonderful. You can see the Cathedral in all it's glory on one side and the Mediterranean on another as well as the city roof tops and the mountains in the background. When I return to Spain next year I will most definitely book the Hotel Molina Lario again.

We've stayed in the Molina Lario for 2weeks in August this year and loved every moment of it. It's excellently located just across the Cathedral, offering great views from the upper floors. We stayed on the 5th floor with the window looking over the courtyard which was a bit noisy in the morning if you chose to sleep with the window open.
Clean hotel, better quality than the 5star Vincci Posada del Patio we stayed at last year. We've chosen a room without breakfast included and being in the heart of Malaga, we could eat out every morning for less than 15euros (2persons).
The pool on the roof is very nice (extraordinary view - Cathedral on one side, the Port on the other), but you have to be among the first to arrive in order to get a free sunbed. It's quite small and has a maximum of 8 (eight) sunbeds. Still, very nice and cosy. Also has a bar serving nice cocktails at night.
We rented a car and went to a different beach (Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella, Puerto Banus) every day and out to dinner in Malaga at night and the hotel was just perfect for this type of vacation.
Would recommend an early booking to get a good price. Have in mind that during the Feria de Malaga (August) the price doubles!!
Nothing to complain about, would definitely return.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views of the cathedral or the port. Also, lower floors facing the street c...

My husband and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago on a short break to Malaga and would totally recommend the Molina Lario for its excellent location. We had booked a superior room but upgraded to a de luxe for (I think) 10 Euros per day. Lovely big room with flat screen TV, iPod dock, CD/DVD player, A/C which was quiet and efficient and a kettle (hooray) with the usual tea/coffee etc. The large bathroom, massive comfortable bed and clean and fairly minimalist decor added to the general relaxing feel. Plenty of toiletries in the bathroom together with towels and bathrobes. Someone has previously mentioned the bathrobes - a little bit worn - and I would agree. If they could invest in some of a better quality it would all be perfect but that is a very minor niggle in what otherwise is a great hotel.

There were some nice touches - a carafe of brandy, some nuts (which were replenished daily) and bottled water were complimentary on our arrival as well as an umbrella stored in the wardrobe just in case (thankfully we didn't need it).

Reception staff, housekeeping etc all very professional, friendly and helpful. We stayed on a room only basis but did have breakfast one morning as we had a train to catch. The choice at breakfast was amazing and well presented.

The views from the pool area on the top floor were fantastic and the location of the hotel couldn't be better - within walking distance of the cathedral (just around the corner), the Picasso Museum, restaurants, bars, the marina, beach, railway station etc.

We look forward to staying here again.

Room Tip: We felt the up-grade to a de luxe was worth it for the extra space.

We've stayed in the Molina Lario Hotel twice this year. In June we did a,14 day, mini tour of Spain, visiting and staying in, Malaga, Sevilla, Madrid and Barcelona. The hotels we used were all in the same price range as the Molina Lario but, in our opinion, it was the best, so much so that when we returned to Malaga in September we stayed here for 10 days. The hotel is very well situated within easy walking distance of the old town and the beautifuly refurbished port area. All the staff were pleasant and allowed us to engage in some Spanish conversation, smiling kindly when we went wrong. Breakfast which is better than the European average can be eaten inside or out and the rooftop pool and terrace help maintain your exposure to the glorious Spanish climate. Rooms are comfortable, air conditioned and the bed linen is changed every second day. We chose a superior room for our 10 night stay which afforded us stunning views over the port and out to the Med.

Room Tip: Superior rooms have the best views.

We were choosing between this hotel and the AC Palacio. They are across the road from each other, so location wise, both are equal: and equally good. Right at the edge of the old town, below Gibralfaro, 10 mins walk to beach and less than that to the train station.

The rooftop pool was bigger and had more of a scene at the Palacio, but Molina Lario's was more relaxing for guests. Nice room with everything you'd expect - good choice of channels, wifi, comfortable bed. Quiet.

No quibble with hotel overall, but it felt a little on the pricey side, particularly as there was no breakfast included.
