“Top location and an exciting terrace”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

The Molina Lario was our first hotel on a trip through Andalucia. The hotel is easy to find from the airport in Malaga. The location could hardly be better, you are close to the main street, at the entrance of the city center and close to the harbour. Unfortunately we only stayed one night here. We tried to get into the hotel garage, but this was full and the reception stuff recommended a public garage. This was very close by, just a 50m walk from the hotel and easy to find. I would also recommend this, as spanish garages can be very narrow. When checking out, we got a voucher for a reduction in that garage.
The check-in went quick and well. Theroom was spacious enough, it went to a smal street at the back of the hotel, so it was relatively quiet with a view to the cathedral. Bathroom was ok and everything was clean. As the hotel is at the city center, its just a few meters to the cathedral and the shopping areas. The access to the harbour is also just across the main road and some nice walking. We had dinner just opposite the hotel more or less over our room, which was very nice. Later in the evening we were sitting in the bar, which is located on top of the hotel. The pool is also located here, so enjoy a swim after a days strolling through the town. The view at night is just great, imagine a warm summer night with a small air breeze from the sea having a glass of wine and looking to the lights of the harbour or the cathedral, summer vacation can't be better.
We had breakfast outside in a yard, which is surrounded by the hotel walls. The breakfast was ok, offering all expecting from a 4* hotel. Checkout went quick with no problems. I definitely come back any time I stay in Malaga and can recommend this hotel.

This is a hotel in a lovely location by the cathedral. It is decorated in a very unfortunate super modern (too modern) style, that makes you feel in the lobby of a hotel in London or NY rather than by the sea in Malaga. That is a bit unfortunate.
That being said, the rooms are ample and they have all the amenities. Staff are very helpful and efficient, and breakfast is rather good.
Value for money, it is really not bad, but do not expect a huge amount of charm.

Room Tip: If you can, ask for a room in the old part of the building. They have a lot more charm.

Spent 5 nights at the Hotel Molina Lario in May. The Hotel is very central, great for the Cathedral area and the main town but also is only 15 minutes walk to the Marina with its lovely bars and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and very clean with easily controlled air conditioning. The sound proofing was the best I have ever experienced with no traffic noise, you really noticed the difference when you opened the window. The breakfast was good and plentiful with lots of choice. The only down side was the size of the area around the pool for relaxing with only 5 sunbeds available you were very lucky to be able to get one. We booked a Superior room which is in the older part of the building which meant that we had french windows with a juliette balcony, worth paying the extra. Should we be in Malaga again we will definitely stay at the Molina Lario.

Room Tip: Superior rooms have french windows with Juliette balcony

I've visited the Molina Lario a number of times over the years and hope to keep coming back. The hotel is beautifully furnished and extremley comfortable. This year we spent more time by the pool and rooftop bar, the views from which are stunning. It was a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon in Malaga during the busy Easter weekend.
I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say about this hotel.
