“Nice Boutique Hotel”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

I stayed with my husband at this hotel for five days. We had a Junior Suite and can say that this hotel is very clean, staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast was also very good. I loved the fact that the rooms are bright and bathroom is big. Location is another factor, you can walk to all bars and restaurants on Lario Street.
In summary I can say you can get your money's worth and highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you can go for the junior suite.

I loved RoomMate Lola! The staff was pleasant over the phone, via email and in person at check-in. We declined breakfast upfront so we never knew what it entailed. There were plenty of places around and a grocery store the staff recommended. There we stocked up on fruit, yogurt etc. Although there is no "room service" other times in the day the staff was awesome in letting us borrow tea service and allowing us to use the expresso machine for hot water. Anything we asked for the staff gave and when we didn't ask they left us notes offering. The room was beautiful, much bigger than imagined. We had noise from other guests a few nights but staff took care of it immediately. The shower is a problem. The pressure kept forcing the shower head off the mount and nearly flooding the bathroom. This happened to us several times but we were provided towels and at the end of the day its just water! Otherwise, the temperature was just fine unlike other reviewers. I seriously enjoyed the hotel. When we went there was construction but you could barely hear it. Surely, there were a few sex shops and clubs around but that didn't affect our stay. A brief walk past those places and there was plenty of lovely shops, gardens, parks and the beach was a ten minute walk! We later stayed at other RoomMate brand hotels and we're equally impressed. We also visited Larios in the shopping district. I just don't have anything bad to say. Great staff! Excellent rooms! Location was great!

We stayed here for 6 nights at the end of January for a holiday. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Oscar in the reception. We would have liked a kettle in the room (luckily we had checked in advance so brought one with us) and also a shoehorn (which we hadn't brought with us). The hotel is in a quiet side street, however the dustbin lorries and street cleaners work at night and are noisy and disturbing. Getting around in Malaga is very easy from this hotel, either on foot or using the cheap bus service, and it is also easy to get there from the airport on bus route A.

My wife and I stayed here for seven nights in October 2013 and I returned on business for two nights in January 2014. During our first stay the room was located on the first floor, just above reception and it was just a little bit noisy. The second time I asked for a room on a higher floor which was quieter - on this occasion the room was just right even though it was only a standard. On both occasions, the hotel staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful. The breakfasts are much more than acceptable at 6.95 euros a head. There's a good choice of croissants, rolls and pastries, coffee and juice. Admittedly the choice of meats and cheeses is very limited but there are scrambled eggs, tortilla and pretty fatty bacon too. The hotel itself is located in a recently refurbished street well within walking distance of the historic centre (no more than a ten minute walk) and roughly four minutes away from the Avenida Principal where the airport bus stops (3euros to the airport) together with buses to the station, Pedregalejo, El Limonar and so on. This, in my opinion, is a good quality, friendly and well priced hotel.

Room Tip: Just ask. If they have one, they'll give it to you. Rooms on higher floors away from the stairs...

I stayed two nights at Room Mate Lola, and was overall very pleased with my stay. The hotel is centrally located right next to the main shopping streets (Calle Larios and Calle Nueva) and near all the sights in Málaga, as well as the bus and train station and Larios shopping Centre (15 minutes’ walk).

The room was spacious, but somewhat weirdly decorated. Lime green walls, lots of sharp edges and an absolutely disgusting carpet. It was full of stains and marks, and seemed dirty. On the bright side; the bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious and modern and you could sleep with the window open without any disturbance.

From Málaga Centro Alameda Station you only have to cross the bridge, and you will see a sign for the hotel. It will not take you more than 5 minutes to walk, even with suitcases (tip: Google maps will not give you an accurate location of the station…). If you continue in the other direction from the station, you will end up at the bus and train station (where the Larios Shopping Centre is just a stone throw away). It is also very close to El Corte Inglés, where they have a Supermercado (with a great wine selection as well).

I did not try the breakfast, but I had a look and though €7 was a fair price. But there are lots of nearby restaurants and bars with great (and more authentic) breakfasts.

Considering the price and location, this is a great choice when in Málaga.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel and we loved it. The modern but efficient use of space, chill out rooms were great. Hotel is quite close to the city center so we could walk to all the main attractions. Hotel was very clean and affordable, with very friendly staff.

This hotel is situated perfectly between the harbour and the busy town. We were slightly disappointed however with our stay. The room was very clean, no issue at all with that but our 'double bed' was simply 2 single beds pushed together which was not very comfortable. Another thing, we didn't find the staff at all welcoming or friendly. When we arrived for check in, we stood at the desk for about 5-10 mins whilst the two members of staff continued their conversation, no acknowledgement what so ever, Not a great first impression! If we were ever to return to malaga, I am unsure if we would return to this hotel, if we did, it would be based on the location.
