“Excellent hotel for onward travel”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

I stay in this hotel regularly en route to/from Malaga Airport. It is a modern, clean hotel with decent breakfast and lovely friendly staff. It has an excellent location next to Maria Zambrano Railway Station making it an excellent choice if you are travelling to/from the airport by metro or travelling on elsewhere in Spain by train (or from the nearby bus station). The station has a decent selection of shops, bars, restaurants in the VIalia centre which can be accessed directly from the hotel and the large Larios Shopping Centre is only a few minutes walk away. The town centre is an easy flat 10/15 minute walk away and Malaga Beach around 5 minutes walk away.

Overall the hotel is perfectly located at the train station if you plan on visiting the other major cities in Andalucia. It's easy to get to by train to/from the airport as well as to/from other cities by train and convenient if you rent a car and drive to other cities. It's also located relatively close to the main touristy areas in Malaga - an easy 10-15 minutes walk to the main street, Calle Larios.

The hotel itself is pretty modern and nice. The breakfast buffet is a pretty good deal considering what you can get - an unlimited amount of iberico ham which make it all worth it. the other stuff is pretty tasty too.

The room is on the smaller side, but has enough room to fit a king-size bed, a comfy recliner and a bench for luggage. there's also a desk and chair.

The bed was very comfy but i do have to say the pillows were not so great. there were two types - large square pillows which i noticed were common in other hotels we stayed in at spain. not sure if they are meant to be functional or are simply for decoration - either way, they aren't so comfortable to sleep on. the other pillows were the length of king size pillows but were half the width, so your head/neck didn't both fit straight on.

All in all, it was a pretty nice stay. The room was clean, quiet and had no visible issues. It was always on the warm side though - i think because of all the lights. We left the window open and it helped regulate the temp a bit but the room still stayed mostly too warm.

stay here for 4 night over xmas, arrived xmas eve, i found the hotel to be perfectly located for sight seeing, only 10/15 mins walk into town centre, also hotel is within the local train station so you can easily explore more of spain, the hotel itself i found lacked any atmosphere, the bar area was poor, i would have expected more with it being xmas, rooms were ok, nice beds, only one comfortable chair in the room the other was a stool type which was unappealing, our bathroom was in need of some tlc, as there was mould and other things showing on the bathroom fixings, you have a tv in your room but only english channels were the news channels not even a music channel , i didn't eat at hotel but did take a look at the menu which for me didn't inspire. overall the hotel was decent for my stay, for me it is not a holiday hotel and a few days is about all i would like,i would return if the price was right and because of it's location to the train station to explore more of spain.
getting to the hotel from the airport is easy, come out of the main doors of the airport, look for the "renfe" sign it's over to the left as you leave the airport, a single ticket cost 1 euro 70, get off at the maria zambrano stop takes about 10 mins and is a lot cheaper than a taxi.we ate out every day,the main area where the hotel is situated is a little shopping mall, with a number of shops and places to eat, out and about there are to many places to mention but a good starting point is the square infront of the cathedral, we never had a poor meal, drinks can be as cheap or expensive as what you are willing to pay, i found in the shopping mall area a bar doing 6 bottled beers for 7 euro, wine was cheap and very good, if you get time head to the marriott hotel and go to there roof top bar,the views are pretty good.

Very good modern hotel, very clean, spacious and well-insulated, good beds and plenty of comfort. We had a room with Jacuzzi and it was very nice. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast varied and generous. Good location 10 min walk from the beach and a little more from the center. It is a 5 star hotel at the center of Malaga, next to the TGV train station of the Spanish. Very attractive offer during the summer holidays. The bathrooms are well equipped and the hotel has a parking. To get to the historic center, it will be better to take a taxi.

So easy to get to and from the airport. 3 stops direct from the airport and you're at the hotel. It's an easy walk into the city centre, but there are also some bars and restaurants nearby and also El Cortes Ingles. Didn't eat in the hotel-bar looked relatively pricey. Room was spacious and comfortable-good view to the mountains from my room, which was very quiet.
Only complaint was that reception tended to be busy and it was a bit annoying to have to wait 20 minutes behind people checking in when only wanting to get an answer to a simple question. But would definitely stay here again as the location is so good for both the airport and also the train station (and bus station)

We had a family break in the Barceló last weekend. We stayed for 2 nights and it wasn't expensive because we booked in advance. This hotel is very convenient because its at the train and Bus station in Malaga. Its roughly 15 minutes walk to the centre. There is lots of shops at the station also. The hotel itself is ultra modern with many nice features. You can slide from the first floor to the ground floor. My 10 year old daughter was impressed with this. The bar area is also funky and we enjoyed a drink there on one of the evenings. My main fault with this hotel was the air conditioning didn't work properly. I know its December but we could not sleep the room was so hot. I phoned reception twice to be told it would work properly in 5 minutes. I gave up after that and just suffered trying to get sleep. I definitely would not stay here again because of this and I would hate to see it in summer. Reception staff could also be friendlier. Polite but not very pleasant. There is a Gym which we did use and enjoyed.

The hotel is perfectly positioned being on top of the station, however, as other reviewers have stated, there is no noise from trains. The hotel is found by turning right and then right again from the main station entrance. Additionally it is a short walk into the city centre/
friendly, helpful reception staff.
the bar décor is modern and minimalist, but is welcoming
Our room was an upgrade, but was spectacular, great size with a walk in bathroom, bed was large and very comfortable. We saw into other rooms, whilst the cleaners were in and all the rooms seemed to be a good size.
thoroughly enjoyable stay.......and don't miss out on using the slide from the 1st floor down to thee reception area
