Barcelo Malaga isn't the best hotel in the city but it is the best located and modern enough to make your stay comfortable and affordable. We stayed one night as we were catching the train the following day (2 mins walk literally!) Rooms are airy and cozy, the gym does the job and the breakfast buffet though expensive it's totally worth it! A great stay at Barcelo, highly recommended for a night or two, business trips or a quick getaway.

This hotel is just the place for a short stay in Malaga. If you are catching an early morning flight then it is a perfect location for the airport train. I recon you could get from your room to the platform in under 2 mins without even having to go outside.

This hotel is conveniently connected to the train station, which makes it easy to get to from the airport. The hotel has a funky decor and the whole place is very trendy. The staff are inviting and easy going, always willing to help you. The rooms were huge and equally well-decorated. Overall i would give this hotel a 10/10. If you're looking for something different and exciting - stay here!

I read some mediocre reviews but I found it fine. The room was quiet except for the waking calls of seagulls on the roof (3rd floor room), but that's one of the nicer noises I can think of to wake to. I found the walk to town easy enough and if you get tired there are many buses heading back to the train station (next door). The hopon hopoff bus also stops outside the train station which means a way to get your bearings and have transport into city on more than one day.
I cant deny the convenience of its close proximity to the bus station and train station (I arrived by bus and left by train). If you accept the characterless formula type hotel, then why not?? I even found a very good hairdresser in the station.

A very nice and comfortable hotel in the heart of Malaga, just a fifteen minute walk into the city centre or twenty minutes to the marina. Big bright rooms, clean and well furnished with very friendly staff.
The only down side was the maids banging the doors whilst cleaning from 8am,

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room.

Went to Malaga for a 4 day break end of June'14 and chose Barcelo Malaga because of Trip adv reviews. Found it very easy to get to from Malaga airport- train station is directly opposite arrivals exit and only costs €1.75 each. Reached Malaga central station (Maria Zambrano) in 15 minutes and the hotel is adjacent to the station, in fact there is a direct walkway between the two. The hotel itself is quite modern. I felt that the receptionist could have been a bit more attentive and forthcoming with information about sight seeing, trips, restaurants. I felt that i had to ask to get the full information. The room on 4th floor was very well laid out and very comfortable with electric swith controlled black out drapes. The one thing i found lacking in the room was no provision for hot beverages. Breakfast booked at the time of check in was €9 each otherwise €15 if you decided thereafter, but it was a good buffet with hot items as well.
From the hotel to the main sightseeing areas (Alcazaba, Harbour restaurants etc) was no more than a 25 to 35 minute walk which we found very convenient and enjoyable. The local beach is only about a 10 minute walk. Plenty of restaurants and shops and supermarkets nearby. Would definetly reccomend this hotel. You must have a go on the slide from the 1st floor down!
